    You think something is going wrong here or what? I wouldn't let a kid of mine anywhere near a place like that. Safety of your youngster is not in the Univeristy's best interest. Just rake in the cash from having a major college football team. If this isn't a case for the death penalty----and a long and lengthy one-------then anything else should be thrown out forever.

    The NCAA is a whore for attention.

    To me, although the PSU program was negligent on so many criminal levels, no athletic advantage was exploited...which is the only purview of the NCAA.

    With news that they are laying down a hammer on PSU, it is a ridiculous, uncontrolled and completely predictable use of absolute power.

    This is a case where justice should only be dispensed through the criminal court system, not an athletic Gestapo who monitors tweets and cream cheese.

    I loathe Emmert and I think that this should go through normal (if accelerated channels), but I do believe the NCAA is right to act and act severly. I think one thing that should be stressed though is that these sanctions have nothing to do with Sandusky's action or the criminal acts committed - those are for the courts, not the NCAA. Instead, the penalties are because the coverup was intended to protect the reputations of Pterno and PSU and keep them competitive. Also they should make clear that In the future if such a case happens again elsewhere and the school reports it and addresses it correctly there will be no reason to penalize them.

  • I've heard very compelling arguments on both sides of whether or not the NCAA should come down on the football program. Honestly, this is the only aspect of this tragedy that i really dont have a definitive stance.

    An athletic advantage was exploited by them not having to say that a former D coordinator, who was still roaming around campus, was a sex offender. Them not saying anything kept the great recruiting classes rolling in. That is gaining an advantage in my eyes. Don't you think that their recruiting would have taken a hit if they had brought it to light. It shows a lack of institutional control which is very much something that the NCAA can hammer them on.

  • It's not a right to play football for the NCAA it's a privledge. The athletic department was the start of the cover up. So why wouldn't the NCAA get involved. Just don't understand the thought that the NCAA doesn't have the right to get involved. Especially when they're the ones that gives you the right to play in there league. If PSU doesn't like it they can go join the NAIA i guess.

    Yeah, and it's NOT a "right" of the NCAA to rule over College Athletics... it's a "privilege". They can be voted out the same way the were voted in.

    Having said that, I don't have a problem with the NCAA getting involved in this case.... anytime we have a case where even the FBI should get in involved, then yes, the NCAA has every right as well.
