As a Louisville fan, I would hate seeing Petrino at UK. However, has there ever been a better opportunity for Kentucky to grab a top of the line head coach than right now? Petrino may be a bad human, but he is, above all else, a football genius and a winner. Kentucky has recruited players for a long time who are just a bit lower on the SEC talent scale than what teams like LSU and Alabama are looking for, but they are talented, and Petrino maximizes talent. I have no doubt that he could take Kentucky to a whole new level. He and the Cats could start over together, and he would probably be a bargain for a while, at least. Do you think UK fans would support hiring him? (I know I'm talking as if Joker is already gone. Maybe UK has a fantastic season, and this question is meaningless, but meaningless questions are half the point of message boards and sports radio.)

Bobby Petrino...where to start? Pros & cons I suppose.
Pros:
*Best (IMO) play caller in college football.
*Good evaluator of talent (IMO).
*Has won big at 2 stops.
In summary....a winning football coach up to this point (key words are UP TO THIS POINT) in his career.
Cons:
*Has proved repeatedly that he is a pathological liar.
*Has royally screwed over everyone who has employed him as a head coach.
*Ran a renegade program at UaVel that had a sizable chunk of guys who were less than stellar members of the student body. By the time Steve Kragthorpe got through taking out the trash, he was left with a fraction of the talent and it cost him his job.
*So arrogantly stupid that he thought it would be a good idea to start boinking a grad student half his age who was engaged to a fellow employee in the Arkansas athletic department.
*So arrogantly stupid that he thought it would be a good idea to slide her into a cushy, nice paying job in the athletic department over dozens of vastly more qualified applicants and exposing his employer to possible lawsuits if the truth ever came out.
*So arrogantly stupid that he thought it would be a good idea to take his mistress on a late Sunday afternoon Harley ride without his helmet even though he is easily one of the most recognizable people in the entire state.
*So arrogantly stupid that he used his university issued cell phone to make several thousand calls and texts to his mistress.
*Also used the same phone to send several hundred calls and texts to another hottie in Little Rock, including rumored nude photos of himself.
*Tried to involve a friend with the Arkansas Hwy. Patrol in covering up his accident.
*Lied to his boss, his players, his family, the media and the Arkansas fans about the accident.
*Lied about knowing his mistress when he hand picked her for the job.
In summary....Petrino is a pathological liar who has so far screwed over everyone who has employed him as a head coach, and he is arrogantly stupid to boot.
If you are an AD looking to hire him, you have to ask yourself these questions:
*Will he touch us over? The answer is quite likely, if you base it on his history.
*Will he be able to recruit as if nothing had ever happened? I'm thinking it is pretty damn unlikely, especially in the Southeast and when you are going after kids that other major Southern schools are going after. Football recruiting is cut throat enough without opposing coaches being able to load up with a ton of ammo that this stooge has brought on himself. And don't bring up the horseshat about John Calipari's previous reputation. At least CJC can honestly show that he hasn't been named in any wrongdoing in any NCAA investigation. What is Petrino's statement going to be when asked about this by the parents of recruits, more than a few of which are probably single moms who have already been shat on at least once in their life by men? If I'm recruiting against Petrino for a player, I will drag his ignorant ass through the mud to the parents, and the beauty of it is that none of it will be a lie.
*Will his scandal leave us vulnerable to a future lawsuit(s) where perhaps even a somewhat disgruntled female employee can create a "he said-she said" situation where you could wind up in court or be forced to settle out of court because you don't want any more bad press than has already been created.
In summary....any AD is going to think long and hard about hiring Petrino. There are always good candidates out there with either none, or a fraction of the baggage that Petrino is towing behind him in that 40 ft. box trailer. Think Mike Leach has baggage? Leach has a small carry on bag compared to the warehouse that Petrino has managed to create for himself.
Personally, I don't care in the least that Petrino stepped out on his wife. It's none of my business....but that's not what cost him his job. If he had been boinking someone in his own social circle or even the cutie down at Dunkin' Doughnuts, he would still be employed by Arkansas. Even though I obviously don't like him, if you had asked me before all the shit hit the fan if I would accept him as head coach at UK, I would have reluctantly said yes. Now, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole, and I would be surprised if any other major university did either, at least for 2-3+ years. He may be a good candidate to replace Mike Price at UTEP after this season though.

This presents quite the quandry though doesn't it? Guaranteed that we'd be very successful if Petrino were to ever be hired by UK....which is what everyone, I mean EVERYONE clamors for (success in FB).
There will be a school to overlook the ARK situation and hire him....no question. Football rule$$$ the day, and wherever he goes he wins.

This is Exactly my point. Someone is going to hire him, and he is going to win. Why pretend like "my school is too good to hire that guy," knowing that someone else is going to do it, and his record for football success is so good. It all comes down to structuring a contract that gives the school plenty of power to oversee and fire the guy for a hint of trouble.
