Petrino opinions

    Don't feed the troll.

lol - i hear you. But I kind of lean in the category that Petrino would be worth the "risk". It's not like we'd be selling our collective big blue souls to hire the guy. He's not someone who runs into NCAA issues.

I actually think he's probably been very humbled by the Ark situation and will eventually be willing to agree to strict terms with some university when he's offered another opportunity....could be wrong about the humility part, but he was obviously shown by Ark admin, that he is not above them - some lessons come later in life.

This legal worry excuse is stupid. What he did at Arkansas is Arkansas trouble. UK wouldn't be accountable at all.

Except in a negligent hiring//supervision situation, which is exactly what you would be looking at, should any further indiscretion happen.

  • Even if Kentucky hired Petrino (which it won't), he'd be out the door as soon as he won a few games. It's his M.O. and that isn't going away. Kentucky needs coaches who want to be there and stay there, building something instead of using it as a stepping stone. That's always been this administration's approach in hiring and Petrino is never going to be a guy you could trust to stay more than a few years.

But wouldn't this probably be the case anyway?

Let's say UK is forced to make a decision and fire Joker and they attract the, "next great young coach." Wouldn't he look to be out the door in 3-5 seasons if he were successful?

While I doubt Joker is the man for the job I do realize this is his desination job and he wouldn't look to be leaving.

Bigbluemist makes a great point (which is why we should all root for Joker to succeed b/c he would be a "lifer" where most "up-and-comers" won't be).

However, I'd argue that perhaps Petrino has been humbled so much, that his next stop may be one that lasts a while. I have zero knowledge or info of how he's handling this, but you have to imagine that he's been brought back to earth a bit. Maybe next time around, wherever that may be, he'll appreciate the job a bit more. (One would certainly hope anyway....)
