Petrino shaping up similar to Calipari

  • Has Barnhart learned from past mistakes? Calipari wanted to come to UK...he was exactly what basketball needed...then Barnhart started worrying about his issues, and hired Gillespie. You saw where that got us. Will Mitch finally learn from past mistakes of not going for the home run and taking a chance? If UK is willing to take a chance with its baby...basketball....why wouldnt it take one with football? Petrino makes us bowl eligible next year. He can evaluate and develop talent like none other.

  • Uk is focused on better candidates right now. They may filter through them but there are better candidates out there that will be a better fit.

  • there is nothing even close to them being similar. Petrino is a liar and a yellow belly spineless turd.

  • Petrino may be a scumbag and a piece of trash but the guy knows how to win games and get the most out of the talent kids have.

Petrino didn't get his past universities on Probation. Granted, Cal technically didn't either but he was the man in charge at the time and ultimately he is responsible.

We would be lucky to have Petrino as our HC for 3-4 years. He would change the culture of losing at UK, fill the stadium, recruit FL, and have us on the prime ESPN channels instead of the Ocho and CSS.

cobby ... I have two questions for you. I'd love an honest answer and then I'll accept whatever your answer is .... even if you have a different opinion than I do.

    1) Would you be enthusiastic and eager to send your only son off to play football for Petrino for four years and be educated, mentored and guided into manhood by a 'scumbag and piece of trash'?

    2) Would you be enthusiastic and eager to send you only daughter off to work closely with Petrino given his history?

  • 1. Yes.
    2. No. (If she was homely it would be OK, though)

1a. I'm confident that I've taught my son right from wrong and when to question authority. I'd be fine sending him to play for a prick like Petrino if he were at UK.
1b. My son would have the chance of going to the school he loves, I'd be able to watch him play every game, and he would have a better chance of making it as a pro in the process. Sign him up!

    2. My daughter likewise knows right from wrong and would know better than to mess with Petrino. She doesn't have any "Daddy" issues that would lead her to desire a relationship with a guy that's old enough to be her father either.

    It's all in perspective.

    Fair enough ...

I don't deny the guy's abilities as a coach ... I'm just really concerned about all the 'other' stuff that he's been part of and the likelihood that another episode would happen at UK leaving the program in another bad position with more negative publicity around the country.

  • If Bill Clinton can have an affair with an aide and and do it in the Oval Office but not get impeached I think UK can survive hiring Petrino as football coach.

Hells bells people you go up the road 70 miles and UL didn't even reprimand a basketball coach that knocked up a skank in a restaurant booth then paid for an abortion for her. He's gotten a raise and two extentions since then.

And to be truthful about the matter Arkansas wasn't gonna fire BP for what happened, they fired him because their AD jumped the gun and made a public announcement supporting BP and it made them look bad because he had lied. Even after that they were torn on the decision.

This isn't the 1950s anymore. This stuff doesn't stick to a person like it used to. Look around the sports landscape. Kobe and Roethlisberger survived and flourished after being accused of rape. Tiger is back playing golf, doing endorsements,, and nobody cares. Heck Ray Lewis is a damn hero in Baltimore and he killed a man.
