No offense but anyone that thinks that if we were to land Petrino that he wouldn't jump at a bigger offer on a bigger stage like Auburn or UT next year in a heartbeat, is simply whistling past the graveyard.
I know the attraction, he is an known and proven commodity and is an offensive genius, but IMO we would be much better off with an up and comer like Dykes or Hudspeth that could become established and ingrained in the community over time and want to make a career of it.

First I really don't think Petrino would live after one year that's kind of crazy. The Falcons fiasco was in the NFL not college. A huge buy out clause would help as well. Also his wife really likes Kentucky and she's wearing the pants in the family now.
Hudspeth would be a nice hire if we couldn't get Petrino. Spikes would get killed in the SEC with his offensive scheme, see Mumme.

Dykes' team is averaging 216 yards per game rushing. I think that is really good. They are also averaging 280+ yards passing. He is by no means trying to throw for 500 yards per game at the expense of the running game. It amazes me that people make judgements on a guy just b/c who he worked for in the past. His attack has been very balanced this year and he has beaten at 2 BCS teams on the road. He is doing a great job and would be a very nice hire if Mitch can't land the big name.
