I think there's a pretty good chance they may be at junior day but as has been said previously, it would be a major coup for UK to land them IMO.

  • Just gotta keep swinging at the Trinity kids.

There are plenty of positives for these kids to come to UK.

Also I'm excited by the amount of other good prospects that are rearing their head throughout the state.

South Carolina really turned the corner when they started keeping their big name talent in state, UK will turn the corner when it can do the same.

All these top flight recruits can all come in and contribute next year, they can be part of a class that gets UK to the SEC Championship.

  • I agree they really are that good. Joker and Co done great at getting most the top instate talent this year and singed the best qb that's came out of KY in 4 or 5 years. Bolin is not as good as Towles I don't know where 247 is getting that??? Anyways, Joker and Co have to find ways to get some of these big name 4 star players. I got an idea... Someone start a "keep KY kids at home fund" and I'll give it to em, I don't care... JK... We all know BAMA is playing some of their kids.

  • The Trinty kids will be extremely difficult for the staff to garner commits from. Quick is definitely not coming to UK and I'd be surprised if he even shows for one of the JR Days. Hatcher and White are more likely to listen to Joker and Co., IMO, but are long shots. Everyone else in the state are strong possibilities for the 'Cats.

  • Need to catch lightening in a bottle early in the season with wins and obvious major improvement, then convince those kids to be the core of a SuperKY class. That would be the only way to swing the needle on Trinity to me. Really, the first two or three games are critical to this class IMO.

I would agree. Joker would be wise to build a Dream Team recruiting class, ala Mark Richt, with the 2013 kids. Provided, the team gets off to fast start.

Hey alphacat 93...Iv'e seen that mentioned many times before, that Quick won't consider UK. Other than the obvious reason that all the major programs are going to be hot after him, what is/are the other reason(s) that seem to be roadblocking his interest?

I agree. Joker and the staff need to make a big sell to the big in-state talent to come be a part of something big at UK football like Franklin did at Vandy this past year. Tee would be HUGE for that, but we obviously need him recruiting the deep south. Maybe Joker can put him on the top 6-8 guys in KY as well and make it his mission to get as many of them as possible (but not at the expense of as good, if not better, recruits in Tee's usual areas). If I'm Joker, I put on a state-wide campaign in the media and with high schools about building something big at UK with the best in-state players. Take a page out of Cal's playback and talk to them through the media without explicitly mentioning who you are talking to.

His daddy played football for UL. Typically the sons of UL alums would rather die than wear blue.

  • In retrospect, when Joker took over, if we had not gone backwards, but improved each year, this 2013 class would be the one that would truly get us the hump. Like you guys said though, anything short of immediate major improvement, and these kids will not see UK as a viable option.

You are so right but it's like Joker doesn't have the backing to campaingn in the media and HS's like other SEC schools do... I also 100% agree that Joker needs to put "T" on 5-10 Top in-state recruits, maybe send the usual guy one week then T the next... No doubt we need T going after all the priority players... I know I may sound dumb but does it not seem like Joker is ballin on a budget??? It really does. No SEC coach should be slighted in recruiting funds. Think about this for a moment, Petrino has already been to see Timmons and his coach, when is the last time we were in Ark to check out a high 3/4 star recruit in late Jan, early Feb a year ahead of time?

I know it can't be because Joker doesn't "feel like it", it has to be the obvious. I know Joker has a smart and savy approach to recruiting. This 12 class is good but IMO alot of that is due to the fact that we got to sign 26 good looking kids. In 13 we probably won't be able to sign that many so the 18-22 probable SS needs to go on quality talent. I hate to throw star rankings out there but we really need a class full of solid 3's and bring in some 4's (2 or 3 instate 4 stars would be nice)... In other words this class needs 4 or so lineman with Watson type ability, 5 or so D-lineman that are all legit SEC ball players, 3 or so "Sweat" type WR's... You get the picture. All i'm saying is this 13 class will probably not have quantity so quality is of the upmost importance. Hopefully we see more 4 stars than usual too. Nobody knows how good a kid can be all the star system tells you is this guy has a better or less chance due to size and athleticism. In 13 we need a few more of those guys than usual. Great prospects want to play with other great prospects...

  • Everyone talks about wanting to get better at recruiting Ohio, I agree we do but I also think Virginia is a state we need to get into. VA probably has as much talent per person as almost any other state especially in areas. In north eastern VA there are tons of urban areas filled with great talent. Those areas are sorda like New Jersey, parts of Miss, Atlanta GA and South Florida. There is good HS football everywhere in eastern Va. We really do need to start pitching the SEC in some of those schools especially since they aren't that far away when compared to some regions we are trying to get better in. I hate to mention Vandy but Vandy recruits those areas hard. The Cavs haven't been that good in forever except for this past year and it seems like they always bring in a top 25 haul filled with instate kids.

I disagree. It is a LONG way from those "urban areas" to Lexington. The prospect is geographically closer to all of the NC, SC, VA, and marylandy schools.

With Georgia and Ohio and Tennessee, the prospect is only driving past 1 or 2 division one schools to get to UK.

Thanks. I didn't know that. Seems like I've also seen where most think he won't consider ul, (can't make myself capitalize that), either?

I've been to Va beach 5 or 6 times, it's only about a 7 hour trip for me in Eastern Ky, probably 8 from Lex. We are also a SEC school, chance to play early etc... It's closer than Florida is to Lex... It's just a opinion, there are tons of good ball players around there too, alot of SEC schools have recruited those areas hard in the past.

For us to recruit like we need to that distance shouldn't be a issue. The bottom line is we have to get out in some new places, besides it's really not that far away and oh yea they recruit Lex... Chase Minifield has started for VA for 3 years now. Would you want them recruiting here but us not recruiting there? But you have the right to not like any idea, i'm Just sayin.

They recruit Lex... Why shouldn't we recruit VA???

    todd

  • I don't know how that happened, I though I deleted it and just left "they recruit lex"...

I disagree. There is an enormous SEC fanbase in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and a lot of SEC level talent here too. That is why there is always a local station that has SEC games on TV all day on Saturday, both football and basketball, and has for as long as I've lived here (10 years).
