  • Dismiss Coach Phillips and his sorry coaching staff immeadiately. There is no reason to continue this staff into another season.

  • Right now...I'm not so sure they deserve to be allowed on the team plane to return to LEX, let alone another yr!!!

  • I don't understand look at Tenn. they have been in ball games at least and that coaching staff is more than likely gone. Hell we can't even compete with Western let alone the SEC, I think Coach is a likeable guy for sure but we need somebody who can start getting the most out of our guy's and Phillips just doesn't. I hate our defensive coach I don't care if he coached in the NFL or wherever, his defense stinks and has since he's took over. We do have enough talent to win a few SEC games a year we need to go get the Boise St. coach and throw enough dollars at him to come here and build back our program. If K-State can compete with their resources then we should be able to as well, we do need to get upgrades for sure but we need a coach who can at least maximize with what he's got. Plus Peterson doesn't have elite talent yet his teams seem to be able to compete with the big boy's a whole lot better than UK.

  • Minter should be let go now.His defensive unit looked like a middle school team playing at the high school level. They have been pitiful all year, giving up over 500 yards a game.

Minter isnt doing well, but Sanders should be gone way before Minter.

And yet the defense forced a pair of turnovers and held Missouri to 273 yards, the lowest total of the season for any opponent, by a lot. Defense wasn't the issue today.

Missouri isn't the same Missouri of the past. They haven't been very good all year. While today wasn't fully on the defense today, they still made mistakes. Today was a total team loss

I'm not saying the defense has been very good all year. It hasn't at all. But there have at least been signs of improvement the past two weeks, and it played well enough to win today. Saying they're giving up 500 yards every game and playing at a high school level is needless exaggeration. Now, the offense? It's a disaster. Even with the injuries at QB and RB it shouldn't be in anywhere near as dire of straits as it is.

Can't disagree with that at all. There have been some improvements with the defense but, it as a whole is not working. M. Simpson shouldn't be covering receivers, thats not right for him, he's a linebacker.

TO BE FAIR TO MINTER, HID D IS FULL OF FRESHMEN AND SOPH'S PLAYING IN THE SEC WITH THAT YOUTH WOULD BE HARD ON ANY COACH.

Sorry Matt but you can't judge today's game by stats, the eye test told u that the coaching staff was a complete failure today. Offense was awful, the staff never adjusted to Missouri giving run blitzes, therefore we were 3 and out the entire 2nd half. The defense only gave up that many yards because the were given short fields multiple times. The defense could not stop the run at all today. Again, no adjustments were made throughout the game. Matt, I respect your opinion but you are off on this statement. The only bright sides today were the secondary and special teams.

  • This is not only painful for the fans and the nation to watch such dismal displays of football every saturday, but now it seems the players have given up. When it rains it pours and it has poured on these players all year long. Now you have former players saying publicly what we have all known for the last three years.

Kentucky has not only lost all the momentum that Rich Brooks had built, but now we are a laughingstock, to quote a former player. I am a season ticket holder and have not been to the last two home games. Nor do I plan on attending any more. I spend my hard earned money on a team that I love, but honestly the apathy that this coaching staff and the administration have shown has made me apathetic.

Sadly, I purchased two additional season tickets and had them consolidated with the four that I already had. The cost to put them on the in the same section with my other four tickets.... $10,000.00 K fund donation. I'm sorry folks but the product on the field doesn't match the prices that are being charged. That does not include the yearly cost of my six tickets.

I have invested over $16,000.00 in UK football this year and have only been to Three games. I can't even give the darn tickets away much less sell them. I offered them to three different families for the Georgia game and all three said thanks, but no thanks!!!

I can't imagine that people will pay those kinds of prices for this kind of result. The people in my section that I have been sitting beside for years are miserable.

I have been a fan for years. I love UK football, but unfortunately the powers that be don't take the program or the fans seriously or they would have a new coach in place by the end of the season.

I can't see it taking that long. I think after today Mitch is going to make some kind of statement in the next two weeks......JMHO.

  • Special teams and Oline have improved greatly from last year...

But our QB's are inept... Including a senior with over 20 starts under his belt... That's inexcusable.

Regardless, Mitch should spend $5M and lock up Petrino. No brainer (therein lies the rub).

  • I was saying all this when they first named Joker the coach in the first place and caught a world of flak over it all. He should have never been named head coach at all. There is no sense in having nothing to cheer for while we are waiting for Basketball to start.biggrin

I will probably think differently tomorrow but was it a starter that got the 2 picks today or was it someone that Minter didnt really plan on playing today?

Sure this staff has coached for yrs and yrs, but maybe just maybe this isnt ur paw paws college football anymore. Times have changed and so has the way college football is played.
Maybe Minter & Sanders stuff worked back in the day but Times have changed and its time UK does the same.

When i got people that are Missouri fan texting and tweeting me that we have talent on our team, but our coaches are just bad, that says it all.

    Time for a change

  • I am really tired of any more excuses from anyone at CP about this team. It is obvious they support Joker with every loss.

We just got beat by Missouri, a first year team in the SEC. The other first year team just put up 60+ points on Auburn. And we still have media types trying to explain this away and not putting the blame on the coaching staff and the foolishness of the AD. If they add 10 more teams to the SEC we will be the worst of that bunch as well.

Until the press, and that includes the media at Catspause put the fans first this entire site is just a joke. Only a football fool can paint any pretty picture of what this football program has become with Joker and Barnhart leading the way.

Really just sick of these excuses when the problems are right in your face every Saturday.

And still to word from the AD. I will never stop saying it and that is Barnhart will destroy the entire football program unless the media gets on board with the fans, and the fans want a change now. They want hope and letting nothing happen until Tennessee whips UK's butt is basically saying, "Fans, Who Needs them".

  • I have a been a big defender of Mitch. I love how he's been doing his job overall. But he needs to grow a pair. This needs to end and it needs to end a month ago. I can't defend Mitch not firing Joker and the entire staff right now.

  • I find it funny people want to attack Minter, yet we have defensive starters who would be lucky to find playing time on some HS teams around the country, let alone compete in the SEC.

I dont know where you get your info but my people say differently and he will stay the year out and a change will be made as soon as a suitable coach can be found and that is another problem is in finding a good coach willing to come to KY and try to ressurect a program that has been down this far. Do you really think Joker is the only problem that exists within the football program well its not. So ill be real interested in seeing who Mitch thinks is good enough to turn this train wreck of a program around or perhaps someone should start looking for a new AD so that a suitable coach can be found.

    Thank you Carl.

We may not see eye to eye politically but you have a real understanding of what doing nothing is doing to the football program. Its like the final excuse is "we can't find anyone so Joker might as well stay" .

everyone can say my people or sources are saying this or saying that cause at this point, it's all up in the air. If UK wants to show that we're serious about football, than a coaching change is in order along with a ton of other things. You can't bring back Joker for one more year thinking that will work. Times have change and UK, fans, BOT need to change with it. I think Mitch has done a very good job so far. UK was leaning to retaining Joker for another year but that was after UGA. We got embarrassed by a bad Missouri team and look really unprepared. We're consider the 3rd best team in Kentucky in college football and if that doesn't bother anyone, than just cancel the football team cause I refuse to except that being this bad is fine. Youth and injuries only can go so far. Bottom line, is Mitch going to come out this coming week or the next and say Joker is fired, I highly doubt it. Joker and co are over. You think Brooks went to the Arkansas game and came back to Lexington for fun? Brooks was an adviser for Mitch last time when we was looking for a coach but ended up becoming our coach. Who knows who the next coach will be but it has to be the right hire.
