**REWIND: Louisville survives Cats' rally**

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Kentucky's perfection against Louisville with John Calipari at the controls is no more. Barely.

  • Well probably not alot that will agree with me but I thought we grew up a bunch today. We made several silly mistakes and was down 17 in the second half and came back and almost stole one. Bad calls, bad decisions, and really bad free throw shooting and we take them down to the wire on their home floor. BIG improvement. JMO.

  • I agree with you, Bish, but moral victories still go in the book as an L.

  • Eleven for twenty *bleeping* three at the line. No excuse for that.

  • Free throws were the downfall, without question, especially missing the front end of one and ones.. Thought Cauley-Stein played solid all day, but, the way he shoots f/ts, we can't afford to have him in there in close games late..

  • Big improvement in our play today! Need to improve our free throw shooting and eliminate some force passes, and realize can not make high school passes work against better talent . It blows my mind that kids today are so bad from the charity stripe.

Overall we showed we are a good team and come tournament time can be dangerous.

On a side note I don't blame Coach for not calling time out. I would have held it as well.

He isnt really taking the blame b/c no one was to blame individually but as a team and the horrible freethrow shooting. Cal is just taking the heat off his team that played in general pretty well except for the aforementioned FT shooting. They actually showed they had heart when they fell behind by 17 and didnt just give up but came back and gave themselves a chance to win the game. This game although it was a loss may very well be the turning point of the season. They made some foolish passes but they played together as a team for most of the game and thats 1 thing that has been missing all year long up to this point.

Ryan took the threat away for any full court pressure, and if Archie, Alex, and Kyle would have let Ryan handle the ball mostly, we probably would have had 10 less turnovers. Archie made strides in the second half but he is still out of control, Alex seems to be lacking confidence and Kyle still needs to help on defense instead of just standing there watching somebody else's man go by him without helping. Free throws, individually for the bigs and Alex, it sucks, and someone would be running after practice for EVERY miss. I remember Davis saying last year early that he was embarrased by his free throw shooting and that he would IMPROVE, these guys need to do the same as he did.

I agree completely. I think the way they fought shows a lot. If this had been back around the ND game they probably would have lost by 20.

I think this team can rip off a decent win streak before having to go to Gainesville if they play as hard as they did tonight. Sure they could slip up somewhere on the road, but they will be favored in every game until that trip to Florida.

  • I was thinking the same thing earlier this team found itself in the last 16 min of this game. I wouldn't want to play us in March guys because Alex is going to catch on and when he does we will see why most had us picked in the top 5 pre season. I know this was a loss but this team learned how to play with heart today and that is what they were missing. Truth is we hit 60 percent from the line it's a win. I'm excited for what's ahead for the first time this year go cats.
