  • We all hate him. I'm more interested in hearing how many here will acknowledge what he's brought to the game besides his flaws. I wonder other UK fan's opinions after a twitte conversation I had.

I say he's a living legend who has an incredible mind for the game when you take his bias out. He's contributed as much to the college game as anyone living. He's IU's Rupp. He's also a huge ass.

He's not a great commentator because he lets his biases in, but when he talks strictly about the game he is pretty damn good.

Thoughts. I'm prepared to hear it from some of you.

  • Best to ever coach, IMO, in the modern era. Consistently did more with less. One black eye (other than the obvious jackassery) is that he wasn't as good with high level talent. Krykrewski has definitely one upped Knight there.

  • The best x's and o's bball coach that has ever lived. You get the feeling he could literally talk basketball for 18 hours straight and be in hog heaven doing it. I think he represents what is sorely lacking today in bball; discipline and respect for the game. Some of his ideas are off the wall and he went overboard sometimes though. I also think he's the most pompous arrogant and mean person ever involved in coaching. And that's saying something.

As a coach, clearly Knight is a living legend. His resume' speaks for itself and when your coaching tree includes Mike Krzyzewski, you're in pretty good shape.

That said, as both a coach, a commentator and a person, Knight has not been able to change with the times. He's stuck in 1975 and as a commentator, comes off as a hateful, bitter old man.

  • Im not thinking Knight is the BEST x-o coach in history..thats going a tad far. Compare his achieves with Woodens, Rupps, ect..he falls way short. Plus hes a asshole.
