Randle now the best chance for UK out of the 3 left

  • I was of the opinion for a long time that Wiggins was the best chance KY had to get 1 of the 3 remaining recruits still on their wish list. Well that has changed due to the articles I have read about the relationship Randle has with Calipari. Wiggins is looking more and more like he will choose FSU for his 1 and only year in college. I havent given up hope completely but the situation looks bleak that Wiggins will choose to play for the loaded Cats class of 2013. But dont make any mistakes about it Florida is a big player in Randles recruiting. I was really hoping that Wiggins would be the 2nd spring signee and may still be but if we do get another player in the spring I think it will likely be Randle not Wiggins with Gordon almost certainly staying out west probably with Arizona. Since this subject has been spoken about before let me apologize to those of you who think this is simply another thread about a subject that has been covered before. BTW: Heres a link to an article about Randles recruitment and injury.

  • I think you may be giving up on the prospect of getting Wiggins a little too soon. I've recently seen opinions from several UK insiders who still feel very confident about our chances with Wiggins. Don't give up yet ... I haven't.

Like I said in my OP I havent given up completely and have all along wanted Wiggins over Randle if it comes down to that. I hope your right and we get Wiggins but the beauty of the choice is that if we are lucky enough to get 1 of them we cant lose no matter which one we get. Thanks for responding.

By the way I think Wiggins is still Cals #1 target and with Cal you can never count UK out of the picture till the recruit says we are out.

If, and that's a BIG IF we land both 40-0 is a very real possibility. Would love to land both but find it hard to believe. Hope you're right.

I have had a couple of UL fans tell me they pray they win this year because they know we will next year. 40-0 would just make that even funnier.

  • I legitimately think the fact that Wiggins has played like at least 4 games in the state of Kentucky, as well as UK fans practically being at every single one of his games will help UK as well. I know all his FSU connections and what not, but he's going to have to sit down and look at it. At FSU next year, if he goes there his draft stock could fall due to XRM and Wiggins being constantly double teamed as FSU's only true threats to score. At UK meanwhile, Wiggins could thrive as if he gets double teamed, it would open up Aaron Harrison or James Young on the perimeter, or possibly Johnson or Lee down low. To me, it's a pretty easy choice, even if I had his connections. You ultimately need to do what's best for YOURSELF, not your family, not your high school teammate. Overall, his future at UK would be MUCH brighter than that of at FSU. But my name isn't Andrew Wiggins, so I don't know. Oh, and did I mention a national title?? 99.9% sure that won't happen at FSU.

He will ultimately pick UK. He's got at least one person telling him to and that's his brother. Wiggins will outshine everyone on any team he plays on at any level. At UK next year it may not be as much and the same goes for his first couple of years in the pros, but he will be the focal point of whatever team he's playing for. Period.

Andrew Wiggins will be a Cat. I don't know why people are that worried about it. If I end up eating crow then so be it. I just don't see him logically picking anyone else.

  • We need both guys IMO to go 40-0. We might also need a 5th year transfer type that can provide leadership and I would prefer him to be a long lockdown defender.

wildcatdon, no doubt that Cal is the best recruiter ever in college ball but getting both Wiggins and Randle is now something that he cant control. The recruiting process of course continues till the recruit commits then signs but I think both of these guys know pretty much all that they need to know about UK and what advantages they would have here if they choose the Cats. They both have official visits to take so things may become more clear after those have been completed and they give summaries of those visits although both are playing their recruitment pretty close to the vest. Randle has a great relationship with Cal but Im not really sure what kind Wiggins has with coach Cal. I havent seen much written about the relationship that Cal and Wiggins have formed. That will be a huge factor in the choice that both players make..

A 5th year guy that you mentioned would be a valuable piece for a team that is going for a 40-0 season. Im not so sure both players are needed to achieve that kind of season. Both would be great but just not to hopeful that will happen. UK will get Wiltjer back and depending on WCS and his situation with the injury could be back also. Before the injury I had WCS going into the draft but now that is somewhat foggy depending on the length of time he is out. If he were to come back then KY would be next to unstoppable next year and I definately think that team will gel and form a great cohesive team very early in the season unlike this years players.

Nate, I truly hope you are right about Wiggins coming and I have always thought that he would be the"GUY" no matter what team he plays for b/c he is so talented. Wiggins will take the lead no matter what school he plays his 1 year at but that isnt the reason I have doubts that he will choose UK. As good as Wiggins is there will be several elite players on next years team and the touches, time and shots will have to be spread out even on a limited basis. I think we all know that it would be to Wiggins advantage to come to UK for a ton of reasons but there are legit reasons why he may choose FSU but I wont repeat them again b/c you know all of them. I just think it means a lot more to Wiggins what his parents think and their connection with FSU than most people think and that is the main reason the scale will be tipped toFSUs advantage.

Wow that would be a sell job, wouldn't it? If CAL could pull this off he should run for President. And sleepy, I think Randle and CAL have had a special relationship since early. You knew right after his injury Cal called him and said he had a scolly with Kentucky if he could play or not. That impressed him and his family alot. And with Wiggins, when I hear that Wiggins played somewhere in a big tournament and Cal & staff did not go, then I will believe that Wiggins is off the board with Kentucky but only then.

I think Wiltjer, Harrow and Polson all return next year which should provide us with some solid leadership, even if there minutes get reduced..I'd love to be a quality 8-9 deep for once and have 3-4 of those come back each year and add that to all these great classes, like we did when Jones, Miller and Lamb come back or when Patterson, Liggins and Stevenson came back.. That experience is valuable, especially in the early portion of the schedule, moreso, than late feb on...

UKlaw, thats cool. What I posted was just an opinion that I have come to based on the articles that I have read and I respect your opinion, a lot of people feel the same way you do and that is fine. I would be so excited if we get Wiggins b/c it would take next years team to a whole different level than they will be anyway. I am basing my opinion that Randle is the more likely of the 2 to come to KY on the relationship that Cal has with Randle and the official visit reaction that Randle had and put in his USATODAY blog. I just havent heard a lot about what kind of relationship that Cal and Wiggins have. Wiggins knows all about UK and an official visit wouldnt be needed but he will take it anyway per Wiggins himself.
