Everyone knew it was going to be Maxwell. He got all the first string snaps in Spring ball, and the majority of first string snaps in fall practice. Joker did the Brooks approach and not just hand him the job (not name him the starter). Ensures that he earns it.
Yeah that's why i said not so much this year. I don't know i guess I'm old school. Reps, Reps, Reps

Perhaps the most inaccurate assessment of Towles I've ever seen printed.
What do you know? This has been reported at several times. I have no idea what they were referring to but it is out there. I can see that he is far behind Smith in knowing how to play at this level.
In fairness to Patrick, I have not heard word one about any attitude issues. He's clearly confident in his abilities but he has never appeared to come across as entitled or uncoachable. Talked to him today and he was honest, direct and said the right things. I've been told a lot that he carries himself with the swagger all good QBs do. Nothing wrong with that. You had better believe you're good and freshmen definitely face a learning curve from high school.
That said, I think it's pretty inarguable that Smith was the best guy this year and will be entering the spring. Whether he's pushed will depend entirely on how much growth Towles shows. No reason he can't get in the mix if that happens, but as it stands now, I can see why the coaches would have the opinion they do.

Here is the thing Towles is the future of UK football at the quarterback position. He is the best qb prospect since Tim Couch was at UK. Smith is good yea but he had a whole year under his belt not just an extra off season. Towles will more than likely sit next year if Smith is able to play is what most think but I really think had he not hurt his ankle he would have had a few great games down the stretch. He is going to be one of the best qb's we've had and Sanders is just trying to get a job at this point. He is knows who's the best qb is because of experience but he has never done anything at UK. He's also not a very good coach period I don't care how much experience he's had what I know about him is he knows squat about offense and the offense starts first with the o-line and then the qb. Towles is a great young man and so is Smith the difference between them is Towles has a chance to be Tim Couch special and Smith doesn't.
