I'm fine with this order except I would move stoops to the top. Not sure what the connection is but I'm growing pretty fond of that idea! In fact Id be absolutely tickled to have any of that top three. I'm a passionate UK football/basketball fan but I do understand coaching football here might not be the most appealing to hot coaches. I also understand that can change rather quickly if the right things take place. I would consider us fortunate to have a realistic shot at those three coaches. We land one of those I for one will consider it a HUGE success ... Go cats!!

Of theses 5 coaches that seem to be in play. How do you think Mitch would rank them?
BUTCH JONES
MIKE MACINTYRE
MARK STOOPS
SONNY DYKES
GARY ANDERSONWould any of these hires excite the fan base?
I think your order is correct.
Jones - 6 years as a HC
MacIntyre - 3 years at HC; rebuilder
Stoops - sexy name
Dykes - return to Air Raid
Andersen - up & comer
Jones & Stoops would excite the fan base, but I think MacIntyre has to most overall upside. I would be very happy with any of the top three on this list.

Not interested in Dykes. Personal preference would be Tuberville.
Stoops/Mac
Jones
Andersen
Dykes - no interest either - I would also prefer Tuberville to Dykes
Stoops and MacIntyre are a close call for me. Mac has shown the ability to win big in an extremely tough place and has southern ties. With Stoops, I'm intrigued by the kind of dynamic staff I believe he could put together and wonder about what kind of recruits he could pull out of Florida and Georgia early on. I'll be fine with either. Jones would be OK also. Andersen's lack of connection to the south troubles me. Never had any interest in Dykes.

Another thing I thought of in regards to Stoops. While he may never have been a HC, he has one brother who is a former HC and another who is currently the HC of a large successful BCS program. I'm sure he's picked things up from them over the years and it wouldn't surprise me if he could use them as "sounding boards" if he has questions or problems. Maybe even changes that could make UK more successful on the field or in fundraising. Something not a lot of 1st time HC's have and something that could prove valuable.
Couple that with the chance that he might already have some recruits in mind that he could bring to UK and he has started to pull ahead of Mike MacIntyre for me.
Great point bluedynasty, I think that Stoops has a lot of up side because of the name and his experience in the south. I am sure that his brothers have shared with him some tips about coaching and I feel confident that he would be able to recruit the south and pull great players from Florida and Georgia. Bring in Stoops and give me the money to build a great staff.
With him here's what I would like the staff to look like:
HC- Stoops
OC- Kingsbury (if you could lure him away) or Paul Petrino
DC-Leavitt (sp? (if he would accept it)) or maybe Mike Stoops
*What would your coaching staff look like if you could build your own staff from one of these two coaches?
