Rashard Fant

  • I've been hearing that Rashard Fant is taking the wait and see approach on committing to UK. He wants to see how this season turns out for them..... Well I hope that he looks at this new offensive scheme and realizes that he can be a big contributor in this offense, ala Craig Yeast....

Kani I was almost positive we were recruiting Fant as a CB not a WR.

Yeah,I thought Fant was being recruited for defense too .

  • He should see plenty of opportunity to get on the field early no matter which side of the ball he will play on. There will be plenty of room at WR or CB, we graduate 4 of the top WRs and the 2 starting CBs.

CB I'm not too sure about. One of those SR starters will lose their spot as the season goes on imo. Then should have Caffey back if he gets his grades in order. Caffey, Tiller, Harmon will be tough to pass up for the next several years for anybody already on the roster and future guys. Throw in Quinn, Reed and Blaylock who are RSing and it is a bright future for CBs if they progress like we hope. But if the kid can play, then he will be on the field.

That could be the case... I know I looked on another board and Fant was quoted as saying that he's taking a wait and see approach and he wanted to see the offense as well. So I don't know. Could be a Bud Dupree type of thing where we don't know for sure until he gets on campus.

  • I think we are recruiting Fant as an Athlete..meaning..the coaches will probably allow him to try out at the position he wants..then move if he's needed more on the other side of the ball. I think Joker should let some more talented kids play 2 ways..say..Fant..for instance..allow him to play 8 to 10 snaps at WR, 10 to 15 at CB..and return some kicks. Or vise versa. I think Jd Harmon could play WR as well..but i love a 6'2 197lb CB..kid is the best walk on ever! starting as a true frosh!I I think we eventually land Fant and Dowdell. Having yancey here helps on both..if either decide to go elsewhere..it could mean Yancey isnt a solid verbal after all. Heres hoping we wind up with all 3!!
