Real Deals and Could be the Best Evers

  • It seems we're handing these terms out like the government hands out money. For goodness sake there has been improvement, but let's give it a little before we start bestowing accolades of this magnitude out on any player. The Real Deals and the Best Evers earned their labels in big games and or against quality opponents over a period of time. We can be excited and a little judicious with our accolades at the same time.

    The accolades police is out...beware!! Actually, this type of post really ticks me off. It's as if the team is be damned if they don't improve, and be damned if they do. Further, if you don't see (or refuse to see) that some of our players may end up being "the best ever" (i.e. - Max Smith, per Andre Woodson.....I've not seen anyone around here on this board make that comment).

    We all understand that we still have an SEC schedule to play. But by God, I'm feeling waaaay better going into SEC play this year, than last year. I'm pretty sure you'd have a hard time convincing me otherwise.

  • Well, as far as QB's are concerned, UK hasn't had any heisman winners, or NFL stars, so I can understand people thinking Max could rival the best, but I also agree with the OP. The dude looked like he had potential last year, and has played well against UL and Kent State this year for goodness sake. We should give it a little time before we write his name in the ring of honor...oh, wait a minute...there is no ring of honor anymore?

  • The OP seems reasonable and inoffensive. I find NOTHING wrong in what he said.coffee

    No nfl stars are you kidding me ( in my Dickie v voice) what is the names Stevie Johnson,Jacob Tamme,woodyard, Cobb,Masthay? I don't think you even watch football do you.

    Try reading the part that says AS FAR AS QB"S ARE CONCERNED!!!

  • No disrespect meant to Mister Couch either, but for all intents and purposes, he didn't win the heisman (was a finalist though) and underachieved in the pros. (I still blame the Browns for setting him up for injury and failure)

  • Couch didnt win the Heisman but he was the number one pro draft choice. I will take the pro scouts opinion over who was the best player in college football that year over who was voted the Heisman by sports reporters. We all know no UK player is ever going to win the Heisman until UK becomes competive at the top level of college football.;

    Couch never got a proper shot in the pros playing for a hapless Cleveland team and had his career destroy by injuries because they couldnt protect him. He had a shoulder injury and never was the same afterwards. IMO being the number one draft choice is a curse not a good thing especially for a QB because it means you are being drafted by the worst team in Pro football.

    This year I fear for Luck because the Colts are just a terrible football team and he is going to take a Couch like pounding playing for the Colts this year. Manning knew what he was doing getting the hell out of Indy.
