  • From the same source as yesterday, when signing day comes, don't be at all surprised if no more than 3-4 of UK's current commits still have offers from UK. It was definitely discussed early in the process. Apparently from Stoops' perspective, there are a LOT of reaches on the current commit list.

  • Hope he keeps Jacob Hyde. In-state kid and diamond-in-the-rough, IMO. He's familiar with Khalid Thoms - wonder if he stays? I don't mind his "I can do better" confidence a bit though.

  • Not a shock. I'd expect Yancey, Bell, Thomas, McClain but any other nothing would shock me. Timmons is about to get a ton of attention. I don't expect Hyde to go anywhere either

  • Bell, Hyde, and Yancey seem like the only "sure fire" guys from my perspective. Will be interesting to see what happens with Khalid Thomas. Jdrum apparently tweeting out that Timmons wants to meet with Stoops ASAP.

    MinterWonderlnd

  • Who ever he wants and doesn't want is fine with me

    truecatfan4life

  • Think he'll keep Khalid. Stoops was his recruiter at FSU and it also helps keep ties with Godby open. Feels like we may be about to have a couple of months like Ole Miss did last year with a ton of offers going out

    allenctynimrod

  • Needs to honor all in state offers for a PR perspective. IMO of course.

    Clever stuff here.

Wonder what that means for Summers? Doubt he stays on the staff and tells his 4 oline kids they have moved on to better players. Summers is the one guy I want to keep from the current staff. I have trust in his ability to evaluate the olineman he brings regardless of rankings.

  • Judging by the list of recruits he seems to be in on, posted in another thread, this would not surprise me at all. Surely they discussed upgrading recruiting and that it needed to start this year. Now if something had happened and we didn't make this hire until January I think most would have stayed, but he's got over 2 months to make this class very respectable.

I'm not sure who will be kept or not, but I agree that Bell, Hyde, and Yancey are highly likely. I would imagine Austin MacGinnis stays as well, and Reese Phillips may have a shot, depending on who comes in as OC.

  • The only thing you have to be careful when doing something like this is you risk pissing off high school coach's. Just ask Derek Dooley about that. You never want to burn a bridge that you might need to cross back over one day.

  • As I've said before, get rid of them if you want to. Honestly, he will have to keep some of them. I don't see him getting a new recruiting class of 20-25 kids this late in the game. But if he really could pull that off then more power to him. I wouldn't worry about pissing off the high school coaches because if they step back and look at the situation honestly they will see that the majority of these recruits don't belong in the SEC. Hence our 2-10 record and our currently 60 something rated recruiting class. He can invite the coaches to camps and things like that to make up for it. Hell, coaches leave schools all the time for different jobs without concern for the kids. They will be ok.

I'm not trying to be a jackass about it but to be blunt, if you can get better recruits then what we currently have coming then say I'm sorry and move on. As much as everyone has complained about the coaching staff we had, it also had a lot to do with the fact that our recruiting classes have been way below par in the SEC. Good coaching and mediocre-at-best talent do not win in the SEC. If this guy starts letting commits go then let him do it and do say a word about it! This is a business and he was hired to make business decisions.

  • No we don't, This state has very little in state talent and if the kid cant make the line up cut him.

Would you keep a UK kid over a 4 star kid from Fla ????? no!!!

Stoops will keep a couple of the Oline recruits, I do beleive. Big tall kids are hard to find and Summers can pick some great ones out of the rough. Summers will stay at UK in my mind.

    dvillepro1

  • As a side note Stoops will not take any Fla st commits. He will stay hands off of them from what I have been reading in the online news papers in Fla.

    dvillepro1

  • I suspect he will head to Trinity to talk to Quick and Hatcher and Ryan White..This could get interesting..

    wildcatdon

  • Hopefully helps with Boaz Joseph who is from Florida.

Quick will either go to UofL or out of state. Hatcher ain't going to UK either and after some of his comments when he committed to Kiffin? He can kiss my ass, your ass and the rest of the Commonwealth's.

We could maybe flip Ryan White

  • THis already is interesting! I hope Stoops can sway hatcher, mabye even quick..i think we get ryan timmons now..and that kid is super fast...elite wr/rb/kr...I think all said..Uk's 64th ranked class will jump into the mid 30's...something like that. Given 2 months..that would be awesome. Cant wait till next year now...heres hoping Uk fans pack Commonwealth...give Uk the homefield advantage its lacked so long...if we continue to fill the seats..more and more money will flow into the football program..things are about to change around the football team..for the better. Mitch got the BIg name homerun HC..the Hc is bringing elite recruiters..its now left up to the BBN to get 100% behind Stoops..Uk football..and for the boosters to make the money flow..for new facilities..and..if Commonwealth keeps getting sold out..perhaps for a 90,000 plus seat modern football arena...

If true he's already doing a better job at recruiting and hasn't even tried yet.

  • Timmons went so far as to say he'd contact the new staff if need be. Kid and his family have wanted a reason to stay home.

Also based on stuff coming from the FSU people with Coley and Stoops we probably lead for Jermaine Grace and Tony Stevens
