  • I honestly think he might challenge for PT at DT.

  • I still think a redshirt year would benefit him greatly. Give him to year to learn the program and get into a good dietary regie-meant.

Funny! But I agree. He sure looks like a steal.

  • Yeah i agree... he sure does look like 4-3 DT but he needs to add BULK 265 to 285

  • I am with you JE but he looks like he is going to be a beast.

  • Oh yea. For sure. The staff thinks they got a steal and I agree. He will be an animal.

Should wind up as a solid 285-290ish DT with 4.8 speed..explosiveness..his NFL potential could be as a 3-4 DE for a Steelers type Defense..think he could be Jarmon-ish.

Josh, I agree. He appears to be the type of player that Eliot could mold into a All-SEC caliber Defensive Tackle. His 6'5" 270lb frame and quick first steps are exactly what I would want in an incoming freshman DT. We are probably in a very good position to red-shirt him, and I think all linemen on both sides of the ball should be RS as freshmen. Let him take a few months, instead of a few weeks, to add on 15-20 more pounds of healthy weight. If he just eats himself 20 pounds heavier I'm afraid he would lose some of his greatest attribute, which is his quickness for his size. If he takes a full year to add the 20 pounds and it's all muscle while lowering his body fat percentage, he'll be quicker while also becoming stronger. If we can stay relatively healthy with Rumph & Cobble anchoring the center of the d-line this year, we should be able to RS Meant and another DT if we end up adding one to this class. The other reason I always like to see a guy RS is to get himself situated and acclimated to college life. One of the big problems with our program has always been the need to play true freshmen. While some of them arrive ready and prepared to take on the entire load of classes, practice, weight lifting, nutrition, and new found freedom outside of their parents roofs, most of the kids that age need to be eased into the football aspects of it. By throwing too much at these kids too soon it can stunt their development and put them behind and playing catchup until their junior or senior year. The powerful programs RS almost all of their freshmen, and I think this staff will want to RS as many youngsters as possible.

Stoops Troops reporting for duty .... Which way to the front lines?

  • I don't have enough good things to say about this kid. Unbelievable quickness. I know we all are tired of the "diamond in the rough" thing, but this is what you want when you speak of those kinds of things. Still boggles my mind he wasn't rated higher (not that it ultimately matters).

  • This will be one of those kids that we get reports about out of practice. Like watch out for this kid he's gonna be a stud. I'd expect we get those reports immediately but it will take a little bit for him to gain the necessary size/strength to play DT. Now if they recruited him to play DE he could make an impact immediately.
