  • Whats your prediction of our record at seasons end, regardless of what happens coaching wise? Anybody think we may turn this thing around similar to some years in the past?

It boils down to the offense not turning the ball over and the defense putting up any kind of a fight.

Consider this. Take away the two turnovers vs. Louisville and it's a close game. Take away just one of the turnovers inthe first half vs. WKU and it's a w for uK.

But here's the problem. We've got a soph qb and 3 of his top 5 targets are in their first or second year in the program and are playing their first legit minutes. That's a recipe for growing pains.

I still beleive that if we lower turnovers we will have a shot in 5 or 6 more games. If we don't, we have no prayer.

  • Sorry, we are 2-10 or 3-9 at the best.

It's about leadership to me and we have none. I would love to see this team "get it" and give us five wins but we seem to take a step back every single time we take the field.

It's not on the players, it's on this staff. Our guys just don't seem ready to play football when they hit the field.

Are you referring to players or coaches when you say there is no leadership? I'm not sure I agree either way but curious on which you mean.

I think I was pretty clear when I said it's on the staff. I could take a young SEC team losing in conference but I just think it reflects on the staff when you lose to a Sunbelt team that is still wearing their diapers.

  • 2-10. I think the players know jokers a lame duck and they'll quit on him.

  • By the time we play Samford Max Smith will be in a body cast. We may finish 1-11.

As upset as I have been I STILL think we have a Win vs. Samford and at least a 50/50 shot at Arkansas and Vandy. Jury is still out on Mizzou, I have not watched them to this point. Lots of prayers would have to be answered by the football GODS to get one of the others. UF, UGA, MSU & UT are out of the question as far as I am concerned.
I think if we can stay healthy, combined with a couple winnable home games with some luck on the road in Fayettville and Columbia we could get to 5 wins
If things turn ugly over the next 4 games and we could be staring at 2-10.
    Go Cats!
    cheers

That is what I fear. 7 straight SEC games will leave this team a bloody pulp when Samford rolls in. This whole season starting to remind me of the dreadful 1994 one. Lost to 1-AA directional Louisiana late in that season, about where Samford is for this one.

Cool story Bro. I'll take 5.

  • Never underestimate the optimism of a UK football fan...five wins would be a MIRACLE!

The sad part is that isn't even an exaggeration.

Turnovers had nothing to do with Louisville beating us. Even without the turnovers we still lose that game by a lot. Had they not pulled their starting QB late in the third the score would have been a lot worse.

As for Western two of the picks came in our end of the field and were on third down, so we would of been punting any way if the pass was incomplete. If you count the interception as punt it would have been a net 27 yard punt. The only one that was costly yardage wise also came on third down so we would of been punting if it was incoplete and they returned it to the 2 yard line. The way our defense had been playing if we had punted they could of gone down and scored anyway.

The only turnover in their end was on third down and we would have to go for a 50 yard field goal attempt.

The fourth we got back and netted us a first down at about the same spot we already were.

Also we picked off one of theirs on third down.

Even without the turnovers I am not sure we win that game. Western just outplayed us from the word go.
