Renovations

  • The Kentucky Senate Appropriation Committee passed House Bill 7 including renovations to Commonwealth Stadium, the Nutter Training Facility and the construction of that new science building. The committee did make one change to the bill, adding wording to state that UK is not allowed to raise tuition to fund the projects for Commonwealth Stadium. The bill will now go in front of the full Senate for approval.

More good news for the football fans and university...

  • yeah, it's basically a done deal at this point. I have no problem with them adding the line about not being able to raise tuition because of these projects. It's a win win situation for UK--and the other schools that have been granted their own bonding capabilities--and the state as it will create some much needed jobs too.

  • I'm excited that UK has finally committed to football. The big question is whether or not they continue this support 5-7 years from now when another jolt of excitement will be needed to continue this momentum

  • Bring it! If this doesn't happen, color me not happy.

  • I don't think finding the money will be an issue. They just needed time to do it. Bonding gives them the opportunity to pay off like a mortgage as opposed to paying it all upfront.
