Nerlens Noel had the best game of his young career but it wasn't enough to one-up Elston Turner's one-man show as Texas A&M stuns Kentucky in Rupp Arena.

This was sad to watch. Kids simply gave up. If embarassment is not enough motivation, what is?
Don't think they "gave up" at all.
Turner just turned in a hell of a performance. One of the best I've ever seen. Have to give credit where credit is due.

how come nobody made him go left? every time he made a move he went right, and almost every shot he hit he was going right. when he went left he missed the shot or passed it off.

dude, he made nasty contested 3s...multiple times.
Even if you are open doesn't mean made threes.
He was insane today. Of course our team could have done things better, but no way this is perfect team, and you would expect many mistakes still.

yes he made some phenomenal shots, but my point is he was in a groove when going to his right. When a player gets in that kind of groove you have to make every effort to to put him in a situation that makes him as uncomfortable as possible. and that position for him today was when going left. at worst if you force him left he dishes to someone else who might hit the shot and if they do then too bad, but when a player gets hot like that you have to do anything that makes him consider giving the ball up. I'm not trying to take anything away from him, but there is always something a team can do to help cool a hot hand.

Ain't that the truth. This years team has no peremiter defender.

When Elston left the game with seconds to go, several UK fans stood up and applauded. Warmed my heart. That's how we used to be ... the classiest supporters in the nation, the most passionate and knowledgeable.
Agreed. That was really well done and deserved. Classy act by UK fans.

Completely agree with you and Matt! I was there until the end and he deserved a standing ovation from all 24K that were there yesterday.
On to another point, the players did not give up. They simply got beat. Were there mistakes made? Damn right. Especially talking about making him go left. Make him go left and make him beat you on the drive. Dont even let him get a 3 up. In todays era of ball, more guys than not can't make the mid-range jumper. At least force him to take it or even into the lane where there would be help. He would have hit from Tayshaun Land if he would have shot it. Anyway, these guys just have to learn from this. It's over so it won't do any good to dwell on it.
Now, back to the fans. This kind of team is going to happen when Cal is coach and the current rules are in place. Even with the number one recruiting class in the country, not every class is going to have the same level of talent in it. We as a fan base need to realize it and just support the team. We can't go to the Final Four and play for the title every year. This isn't the John Wooden era. It doesn't happen anymore. And yet if we happen to not make the NCAA Tourney, there will be idiots out there questioning whether or not Cal can get the job done. You think I'm crazy but there will be a few morons. And then I would really like to complain about the fans at Rupp. As a whole, you are pathetic! And I am included in that. We refuse to stand up and make noise until the players make about 3-4 good plays in a row without the other team scoring, or unless we get down by 10+ points. It's like its a bother for 90% of the lower arena to get off their asses! And when someone does stand up and cheer, most of the time there is some shithead behind them bitching at them to sit down. All an opposing coach has to do is call a timeout whenever the crowd does start to cheer. They know it will get them to the next TV timeout. There is no home court advantage anymore at Rupp. It's not cool to stand up and cheer. People look at you like you have 3 heads. One of my favorite things is that the crowd will stand up and cheer and make noise throughout an entire tiimeout. But as soon as the horn sounds and players come back on to the floor, its asses back in the seats and sitting on their hands.
Oh well, thats enough bitching because it won't do any good anyway. It just sucks when you have season tickets and you don't even look forward to going to the games because you could have more fun at a visitation. Maybe Cal can figure out a way to make a lot of money by playing all non-conference games at neutral sites. That way we only have to sit through 8-9 games a year. I can then go to a bar or a buddies house and actually have fun watching the Cats.
I dont think they gave up at all but ran into a buzz saw named Turner who simply couldnt be stopped and hit every shot he put up. I can only imagine how that feels when your in the "zone" like that especially on the road. UK didnt have an answer for what Turner did to us yesterday although KY had their opportunities to win the game. KY could go 5-4 or 6-3 at Rupp this year in the SEC part of the home schedule and who knows what they could do on the road. Lets face it folks it may be that UK will have to claw and dig to get a birth in the tourney this year. The SEC is weak and KYs schedule both SEC and pre SEC is very uninspiring and it may take a SEC tourney championship to get into the big dance.
