Ryan Timmons

  • According to his Twitter page, Franklin County star Ryan Timmons will announce his college decision on February 5th, one day before National Signing Day. The talented all-purpose back has been high on the Cats’ radar since Stoops and Neal Brown took over and the feeling is mutual. Timmons will visit Ohio State this weekend and Kentucky the weekend after that. Florida is reportedly a new player for Timmons, thanks to Joker Phillips, who recruited him at UK. Currently, he does not have an offer from the Buckeyes or the Gators.

Timmons is ranked the fourth best player in the state and rushed for 1,260 yards, caught 29 balls for 970 yards, and scored 45 touchdowns in his senior year. Timmons speaks highly of Neal Brown, who runs the same offense that Timmons flourished in at Franklin County. He visited Kentucky unofficially back in December and watched game tape with Neal Brown, met with Mark Stoops and attended a basketball game. The Cats are thought to be his leader.

I thought I read Ohio State told him if he did not have an official offer by the time of his visit don't bother coming. Anyone else see this?

  • So assume an offer will be made at his visit.

He also said he was going to commit before his Sr season back in the summer... If we don't get this kid I'll take Janarion Grant all day, he's another special return man/slot WR... Grant looks to have a super strong lower body and is a tackle breaking machine. He also plays against much better competition... If we could land both I will probably try a gainer...

  • I really like our chances of landing Timmons. But I really want Samples! But we have so many options: Blue, Valdez, Badet. I think we'll be okay at the WR position.

  • This was on Timmons twitter on Sun in response to I think a friend of his asking when he was going to visit OSU.

Yeah I just saw this too! Good thing for UK.

  • All I see on his account is 28 days. Is that where this is coming from? Maybe he meant signing day but got the numbers wrong...? One day before signing day is a bit odd.

  • Well someone tweeted at him and said "@Rimmons_5 commits in 28 days

    stevendoubleu

  • I take this to mean; he knows he has an offer from UK, and they really want him. He is still hoping for an offer from OSU. He probably knows he is plan C or D with them, but figures he can string UK along, while he waits. He is OK with being a C or D with them.

If I'm Stoops, I let him know we absolutely need X # receivers. We have a list of XX visiting, all with offers. Those who are first to accept, get the rides. If you snooze, you may just loose.

    70scat

  • I did not take it that way. He said he is not sure if he wants to go on his visit to oh st. I think its starting to sound like he knows he is not a priority for OSU and is about ready to move on. If your not a priority now what makes you think you will be later. Plus they dont even throw the ball that much.

    quagmire

  • I see Timmons at WKU if he waits until the day before signing day.

UF isn't going to offer, OSU isn't going to offer. If he waits that long UK is going to fill up at his position.

unless we get better recruits, we will wait for Timmons to commit.

    Are you serious??

    cousincarl

  • I am completely serious.... Brown will recruit right over Timmons. The kid might get a late offer from another school and take that, but if he waits until signing day to commit UK will be full at WR. Too many talented players want to play for Brown... They aren't going to wait for Timmons. Maybe if he played on the outside, but we have plenty of athletes to play the slot.

    jamccain

  • I actually agree with him. Timmons may wait himself into a grayshirt situation. Oh st is not offering unless they have a decommit. Fla same thing. Hes a phenomenal player but teams just dont value slot guys like they do outside wr for some reason.

    quagmire

  • Plus playing in this state hurts your offers it just does unless you are at trinity were they play national competition teams just dont know how good you really are. Why do you think his offer sheet is not that great

    quagmire

  • The kid needs to take the UK offer now forget OH st and let this staff make him a nfl draft pick

    quagmire

  • I think when he gets a good look at Neil Browns offense he will want to play in it.

Unless he's made a silent commit. I'd guess that vs. being dumb enough to create the gs situation.

    vhcat1970

  • I seriously doubt he has silently commited anywhere considering he has added Florida and wku to the list

    quagmire

  • We have one commit already and I would expect we take only 3 or 4 WR. Samples will be here this weekend with Blue, Badet and Valdes here the following weekend along with Timmons. Gage might be coming the 25th and Janarion Grant the next weekend and all are likely higher on UK's board than Ryan so yes, by waiting until a couple days before signing day, young Mr. Timmons might only have a GS offer left from UK.

  • We need Timmons. Kid needs to go ahead and pull the trigger. He's played in an offense almost identical to Neal Browns..would be an easy transition. Would be a homegrown Percy Harvin type..I think Timmons ceiling is higher than Harvins..kid is so so fast and even quicker..his stop and start back to full speed is ridiculous. Those that have watched him understand what Im saying. You can talk 40 times..verts..all that..but on the field..Timmons football speed is elite..he can flat go up and snag the jump balls..he can make you miss. Plays bigger than his 5'11 180 size too..kid is tough.
THat said..a couple guys are probably right in that Stoops will recruit kids just as good or better. Timmons may be a once every 20 years type athlete in the Bluegrass..but Florida churns out kids like this by the handfulls every year. I love Samples, Badet,Valdes, Gage, Blue, J.Grant. Give me Marquez Valdez and two of the slot guys and I will be giddy. Valdez is 6'3 200 and very very athletic. Most of the other guys are Timmons like..5'11 180ish and blazers. Samples stands out with his hands and toughness at his smaller size.

    BigBlueDawg12

  • I would put Timmons above Badget and Grant at the slot on UKs board but i do agree that Valdez Blue Samples are all above Timmons right now.
