SEC+Regular season record predictions

  • I think UKs SEC record will end up as 14-4 with losses to Mzzou,Tenn.,Fla.and Georgia(thats right Georgia). I know most of you will think thats really not a very good prediction but unless the PG spot is resolved this is how I think the SEC record will be. Then the overall regular season record will be 24-7 with 3 non conference losses including Duke,ND and Louisville. I think Baylor will be a togh game but KY will pull out the win. So go ahead and tell me what you think the records will be and add why if you like and please be kind when you tell me how stupid or wrong I am.catfight

  • 27-4 15-3. Losses coming on the road to UT and UF. Tennessee will give us a tough game in Knoxville. Not sure who the third loss will be to, but I see them getting upset somewhere else on the road. Law of averages suggests the Cats will lose at home soon, but I don't see it happening unless UF comes in and plays an unreal game.

Hey Nate if you get a chance take a look at Missouri unless you have already and I think you will see why I picked them to beat UK at Rupp this season. They have a few transfers that are very good and have an abundance of experience and Phil Pressey is quite impressive.

  • The SEC as per usual is a weak conference. UK should have no problem going 16-2.

17-1, and no worse than the 16-2 noted above.

I'm leaving the jury out on Missouri until I see how they come together this year. They were a heckuva team last year ... but they lost 5 of their top 7 contributors from last season. This year's roster is a mix-n-match group of transfers, juco guys, players coming back from missing the season with injury, etc. They do have some talented pieces ... but they're all new to each other and new to Missouri. Haith is a good coach ... but I want to see how well he pulls this team together.

Not convinced yet that they'll be able to handle UK in Rupp (ESPN College GameDay game) at the end of February. By then ... if all goes as has gone in Cal's other seasons here ... UK could be rolling like a well-oiled machine.

I think Phil Pressey is probably the best guard in the SEC and 1 of the best in the country. You are right about the pieces needing to be brought together but that is true with KY but the difference is we have Cal and they dont. Another program that will be pretty darn good in a couple of years is Mike Andersons Arkansas. I really enjoyed watching his Missouri teams play because they played the 40 minutes of hell that Anderson learned from Nolan Richardson and for the most part played while he was at Missouri. He doesnt have the players yet at Arkansas but when he does look out.

  • I agree with you about Anderson. If you haven't noticed ... the SEC basketball programs have put together quite a nice group of coaches. IMO, some really good young upcoming coaches. Of course led by Cal and Donovan, I'm also a big fan of Grant at Bama and Anderson, Martin and Stallings are pretty good as well.

  • Sleepy, I know all about Flip. Love his game. However, we are too talented and the time & location of the game favor us. I'm also not a fan of Frank Haith. He didn't do much at Miami and he had Anderson's players last year.

As noted the SEC has upped it's overall coaching. Those coaches are bringing in quality players too.

The graphics are different now on my laptop than they were a few hours ago eg: where your site name is it different than before, it shows you how many votes you have and tells you how many stars you have instead of showing you like 3 stars. i dont know if I hit something on my laptop and changed something or the managers of the site have changed it. Thats the best way I can explain what I see. It also shows you the numerical rating such as 40 or 86.

Gotcha ... I don't notice anything different from what I usually see.

  • No doubt the coaching fraternity in the SEC is much better than it was and Im glad. Unfortuanately the SEC has a way to go to catch up with the ACC and the Big 10 but it just might make their move within the next couple of years.
