Saw a soph WR last night.....

  • ....that will likely be one of the top WR in the nation when he becomes a senior. I watched Dorman host Greenwood last night in a game featuring 2 schools in the top 10 of their divisions in South Carolina. Dorman has a sophomore WR named JJ Arcega-Whiteside. They listed him at 6'4 190. Great feet, great hands, great concentration, fast, glides through the secondary like a gazelle. I don't know how many catches/yards he had last night, but I would guess it was well over 70, including an acrobatic 35 yard TD where he elevated into the night and used his long arms to take the football away from a defender who looked like he had a pick of a poorly thrown ball, and he also had a beautiful 70 yard catch and run TD brought back by a 5 yard penalty. This really isn't UK related unless we start to recruit him, but damn...I love watching high school football and seeing a guy like this when you don't know about him in advance. It's like when I saw Daytona Beach Mainland's Leonard Williams as a sophomore. You see a guy like that and you know he's going to be a great one.

Here's Arcega-Whiteside's profile, and some highlight clips as a FRESHMAN.

    Scout.com: Video: 2015 Dorman WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

With good size and great hands 2015 Dorman High School wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside has tremendous potential. In this FREE SCPrepNationTV exclusive we've got freshman season highlights of the Dorman standout. Add the fact that he's got a 4.6 GPA in the classroom and it's easy to see that more colleges will come calling very soon.

  • I'm betting you saw some great athletes overall. Send this high level info you get directly to Joker.

  • Saw Bowling Green take on St. X last night, and BG junior WR Nacarious Fant put on a show. Looks to me like a kid who can play for UK. Probably doesnt have elite straight line speed, but great feet and damn hard to tackle in the open field. Had a ton of YAC last night (think he finished with over 200 yards receiving). Attacks the ball when it's in the air as if it belongs to him and nobody else, making the game winning catch in the middle of 3 St. X defenders.

    Who won the game?

    Greenwood 21
    Dorman 14

Dorman really shot themselves in the foot with two fumbled punts and numerous penalties, including the one that wiped out the 70 yard TD by Arcega-Whiteside that would have tied the game in the 4th quarter. They also had a couple of key guys go down with severe cramping in the 3rd quarter that didn't return on a hot, humid night. I might add that Greenwood's top RB (100+ yards on 8 carries) also went down with severe cramping early 3rd qtr and didn't return.

Yeah, there were several on both sides who looked like they might play at the next level. I'll drop Joker a note for sure. I'm guessing by the time this kid is a senior, he'll be able to go pretty much anywhere he wants. He had everything you look for in a WR, but what stood out to me the most was his feet, in that when he caught a ball he was so quick on them for a guy that tall. It was just effortless on his part.

    Dorman:

    Shondrell Keenan - 5'11 230 lb. RB/LB Junior
    Trey Robinson - 6'2 183 lb. QB/DB Senior
Amavi Draper - 6'1 192 lb. WR Senior
    Marques Draper - 6'1 272 DT Senior

    Greenwood:

Larenzo Mathis - 5'10 170 RB/DB Senior (Had 100+ yards on 8 carries before going down with severe cramping early 3rd qtr.)
    DJ Wright - 6'2 210 lb. RB/LB Sophomore
    Octavious Morgan - 5'9 165 RB/DB Junior
    Aaron Broadwater - 6'4 195 WR Senior
