Seems silly to say, but

I thought our defense played very well when the game was still a possibility, very much improved over recent efforts. I also thought we were super physical running the ball, we looked like we could have ground them up with a little passing game to compliment, just enough to keep them honest.. Hard to say that in a 38-0 game, but the game changed once it became apparent we were not going to score

I thought so too. If we had Max might been a different game but that's just Ky's luck.

I was going to post something similar, but figured the mob would mow me down. If we had Max Smith in this game and we had even a 60% completion rate we would have been in it. It was just a sticky situation with the QBs. Joker probably should have played Whitlow after the first real screw up by Newton, but he didn't (I assume because he was trying to be a nice guy).
But I saw serious improvement in the defense. If they had some time to rest and recover maybe we shave 14 points off of the 38 that Florida scored. I think Smith could have put up at least 14-21 on them.

Yeah, coaching distraction aside, the more I watch other teams play, the more I feel we have a bunch of winnable games left if we can put it together the rest of the way.

It's not silly at all Shepp - you are right on target. And the O-line played lights out too against one of the best D-fronts in the league. That's what's sad about this whole thing we had all the parts and pieces working to make this a competitive game, except one that is.

Not silly at all. The defense did all they could. When you're on the field as much as they were yesterday they're bound to get tired.

We lost the game when newton started it I gave him a fair chance but he can't make a 5 yard touch pass or a 20 yard pass to a wide open receiver I love uk but newton shoulda been pulled

Newton was a lead anchor around the neck of the UK football team. Would the team have won with an injury free Smith at QB. Who knows but the game definately would have been much more interesting and IMO we would have heard less of Ware touting the UofF QB as some kind of All American. The difference between the UofF QB and the UK QB wouldnt have been so stark and maybe Ware wouldnt have hung on Driscoll sack the entire game.

I thought that the defense played pretty good. The only thing that I wondered about was on the first couple of series we blitzing then we just quit.

We certainly looked better on D. Think we would have had a good chance to win with Max. Hope to see more of the same going forward.
