Seth Greenberg on Cal

Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg was on The Jim Rome Show this afternoon and had this to say about John Calipari:
"This whole Big Blue Nation thing, he plays them like a violin."
Is there a coach more bitter than Greenberg? Well, maybe Stallings. He should probably focus more on being on the right side of the bubble for once.

I will agree that Cal knows his audience VERY well and knows what strings to play to influence the fans.
But as you said, Greenberg needs to worry about making it in the tournament. what has Cal done to him anyway?

Do they play in the same conference? No.
Are they sitting as the #1 team in the nation? No.
I think I have more things to be worried about.

Playing the Big Blue Nation is a big part of the job at Kentucky. Cal does it masterfully. That and convincing yuung men that he has thier best interest at heart are his most important duties.

Probably when they had Ace Custis and we ran through them in the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney.
If Greenberg could recruit or coach like Cal he wouldn't be on my TV every year in March whining about the Selection Committee.

If you are aware of this guys act he has had for whatever reason a grudge against UK long before Calipari arrived. Always goes out of his way to knock us on an annual basis for no reason that I know of.
Looking forward to ole baldy sourpuss bemoaning his bubble team being left out the night of selection Sunday

Jealousy has run through most of the college basketball landscape. People always want to see the top teams fail i.e Heat, Lakers, Yankees, and now UK. They will take shots anytime they have someone to listen to them. O well we will see you in the tournament....Oops I forgot we are talking about Va Tech

This isn't the first time Greenberg has 1) Come off bitter and 2) took a shot at UK. He had some pretty unsavory things to say about the UK job when it came open after either Tubby or Gillispie left can't remember which.

He is just insanely jealous of UK and Cal's success.
Seth Greenburg just proved how little he understands marketing and appealing to fans. Cal knows that BBN has always been crazed and rabid for our Cats. That's why we lead the nation in attendance every year even before Cal.

Cal is not laughing at us, he's laughing with us!
Hokie Pokie doesn't get it, just like millions of others. You have to be here to understand that we were here before Cal, and we are the constant. Cal fits like a glove and steers the ship as we sit back and enjoy the ride. He gets paid well to captain this Big Blue Ship!

Cal if given 2 years could take VaTech to the final four. Greenberg can't even get em in the tourney. I'd be pissed too. BBN was around long before Cal. Plays US? Shit we know the game better than anybody. We know how coaches are but you get results and we'll praise ya. Just don't go getting Seth Greenberg results or you'll wake up at VaTech.
