Shabazz

  • Watch his reaction on SportsCenter when he didn't get the ball after his team mate hit the game winning shot last night, Even SportsCenter commented on it. The entire team had dog piled each other and he walks right past everyone and was going toward Washington's bench to shake their hands. After the game, he made a statement that he was happy that they won etc.... This dude is beyond selfish.

  • Bullshozz. He's the best player on that team by far. The ball should have went to him. I don't blame him for being upset. He actually handled it with a lot of class with his statement. Larry Drew sucks and always has. Shabazz is a beast and is one of the best players in college basketball. I'd imagine he's a little frustrated with his college choice and playing for Howland. That style of play is atrocious but Shabazz has handled it well so far. You can't say a bad word about the kid to date.

I don't care if you're the best player on your team or not. Every play isn't run for you. What kind of jackass can't get excited when his teammate throws in a buzzer beater to win the game because he's pouting that he didn't get to take the shot? That sort of idiocy will bury that team. Glad we didn't get Muhammad, frankly.

  • He wasn't even close to open. He would've had to shoot a fadaway 3. No, the ball shouldn't have been in his hands. He did act stubborn at the end.

Shouldn't S. Muhammad known the style of play prior to signing? Coach Howland has been at UCLA for at least 5 years now.

    Hermits have no peer pressure.

  • I watched that clip on ESPN and couldnt believe he took the exciting end to the ballgame like he did. Just b/c he wasnt the hero of this game he went into sulking mode instead of being excited for Drew and his other teammates. If I were on that team I would have a heart to heart with Bazz about his attitude.

  • I tweeted about this as soon as it happened, had Drew passed it to Shabazz, it would have been a fadeaway 3 at the buzzer, or the ball would have been stolen. Pretty selfish by Shabazz for acting the way he did, and a Kobe like attitude for a game in which he went 8-23 shooting.

  • Bazz could take a lesson from Andrew Wiggins' teammates b/c they had his back after that Thamel article that wasnt too flattering. They pulled together and helped him score those 57 points and they all were happy to do so. Bazz you need to read about how Wiggins' teammates took care of their teammate instead of sulking b/c you didnt get to be the hero.

  • You guys are killing Shabazz over nothing. The ball should have been in his hands from the very beginning. You don't want Larry Drew taking last second shots. He just so happened to make it. Shabazz is the guy you want taking that shot every freaking time. And I don't think Shabazz was pissed off about it. Just because he didn't pile up on Drew didn't mean he was mad. Complete overreaction. Shabazz handled it with class and his statement was the truth. Shabazz is a good teammate and kid.

He would have been at UK if not for outside circumstances. Thats just how recruiting goes. Shabazz should have just said screw it I'm going where I want to go but he didn't and now he's paying the price but considering he's doing a pretty damn good job with the situation he's in. And this situation has been completely blown up. Big time players like Bazz want the ball in those situations. If you ask me he's earned the right to have the ball in those situations.

  • When I was watching the game I thought Drew made a selfish play. He could have gotten Bazz the ball with close to 8 seconds left and let him go to work. Bazz is by far their best player and scorer.

Also, I like that Muhammad kept playing even though he didn't get the ball like he should have IMO. He even beat his man to the rim for any possible rebound.

When the shot went in all I could think was how lucky Larry Drew was that it did go in because that was an extremely selfish play that resulted in a pretty awful shot.

I will say Drew has played surprisingly well this season. But that was a bad decision that ended up working out.

Dude, scan the public opinion on this one. It's pretty much everybody v. you. Might tell you something.

And yes, not piling on a teammate who hits a game winner... with the REST OF YOUR TEAM does imply that you're kind of a jerk.

Free country and all... but man, I don't see how you're making bs into lemonade on this guy.

I'm with tWhit on this one...so it's two vs. everyone....

80% of everyone here is just hating because he isn't at UK. Like tWhit said...the kid wanted to be here...he didn't get what he wanted so he's at UCLA. He's the missing piece on our current team (outside of a PG who is not easily rattled).

Maybe he did, but unfortuantely, it made no difference to hi$ dad.

I'm sort with whit too. So 3

  • IMHO, there is no biggie he refused to jump into his teammates. But he probably chose to attend UCLA because Cal told him he need to share the ball here at UK.

  • Shabazz didn't choose UCLA. His dad and sister chose UCLA.

I dont about that Iwatched his facial expression on a replay and he wasnt a happy camper. He may be their best player but it was a team effort and Drew after all did hit the winning shot for the "TEAM". I just think he could have shown some excitement over winning an exciting game whether he hit the winning shot or not.
