Smith has 3-point plan to beat UK

Louisville guard Chris Smith has a three-point plan for beating Kentucky on Saturday, including the fact UofL is in better physical condition than the Cats.

  • Can you see that message on a bulletin board in the locker room?

  • "I don't think they are in as good as shape as we are." lol and Mr. Smith is talking about defense what in the world does he think Kentucky does? Let them keep talking.

  • Guys we are in good shape but don't get it twisted they are in every bit as good of shape as we are if not better, if you know anything about Rick P you should know that his teams are always in tip top shape as well, there style of play demands that.

We play a one on one game with very little movement on OFF and on Deff we play a pretty physical half court man deff that isn't no were near what you would call a high energy system. Don't be over confident anything is possible.

They have been in good shape the last three times we've played them, right? Where did this notion that UK isn't in good shape come from? Smh I just don't understand it?

  • Would you prefer to be in tip top shape or have tip top talent?

  • These kids are 18-21 years old. If they aren't in shape by now they never will be. It's not like they are playing a team from a 35 & over church league.

  • Three games in 3 days at the SEC tournament? Maybe.

    Final 4? No.

  • Trying to wear a team out doesn't work as well in the NCAA tournament. There is an extra TV timeout per half and halftimes are longer, so there is a lot more rest than in a regular season game.

    This.

only thing being in shape that would hurt KY is Louisville wears UK down for the championship game.

Either way, it really doesn't benefit Louisville that much.

And UL stands around in their matchup zone half the game..outside of the guards, their entire front court essentially stands in a few spots on defense...so how is that an indication of "being in great shape".

I am sure UL is in great shape, maybe even a tad better than UK, but it isn't going to give a noticeable difference in the game. It will come down to can UL hit enough tough 3's, Siva/Russ Smith have to have great games and UK has to be missing their 3's is UL's only shot.

    K__TIME

  • let him run his mouth and talk about being confident all he wants. When the ball is tipped and UK runs out to a 15 pt lead before the first break he will be like, "WOOOH! What do we do now?" I'm looking forward to stomping them in the ground.

And it's funny to hear UL fans talk about they don't care if they win the title just as long as they win this game. They want this game more than the title... crazy! I've heard them say they would be happy to lose in the championship by 30 just so long as they beat us... Tell me their fans don't live for this game.

  • It doesn't matter. They will try to slow the game down, anyway. We have played and beaten better teams who tried to do the same thing. I know they will try to pressure us, but I wonder how much. Indiana tried to run with us, put up 90 points, and still lost by 12. There just isn't any way we should lose this game if we play the way we are capable.

  • I don't see anything wrong with this. Have to be confident going into the game. You get asked a lot more questions at the FF than any other time and are under a microscope. I have no issue with honesty and think he believes what he is saying. As long as UK plays their game we will be fine. Against Ricky P's squad this year, the only way we lose is if we beat ourselves. We don't need bulletin board material.

If you look at the UK - Uconn womens game, UK tried to do that to them. The xtra time to rest hurts that idea.

  • If Louisville gets called for all the hacking they do on their press, we'll be spending most of the game standing at the free throw lane

Very true Brave one..................What about that cake Behanon was speaking of? He essentially was calling everyone out there cake. How could anyone be for those idiots..

  • 3 point plan? 1) Hope Kentucky doesn't show up, 2) Hope Purvis Ellison is playing center, 3) Hope the entire UK squad gets food poisoning on gameday.

This one is actually more realistic than the one Smith put together....lol

  • All of this BS about UL being in better shape than us is a crock! That being in shape possibility only applies to early season conditioning. They don't do excessive training through the second half of the season. Everybody is in prime condition at this stage of their season.
Has UL been running around the Superdome everyday this week? BS! I say we punish the four seed as we should. We have the easiest game in the Final Four and should feel lucky about it.

    Kataclysm

  • 3 point plan? 1) Hire Tonya Hardings husband. 2) Give him a baseball bat. 3) Wait in the hall for Anthony Davis. Even if all that went exactly as planned they would still probably lose.

I don't think we are in bad shape, I think we are in great shape but after seeing them play 4 or 5 of their last games I know they are too, all i'm saying is don't be over confident and just because Rick has made some bad choices in his personal life (trust me I hate UofL too) doesn't mean he still isn't a damn good coach because he is.

As much as we are a different team when we played, they are too once they got healthy. They also play more guys than we do (Rick has always been known for that), the first time we played they were down a man and when you run, trap and press as much as they do that kills the gameplan.

We have been very lucky, we have managed to stay pretty healthy, so our 7 man rotation has worked fine. It would be nice if we can get their bigs in foul trouble because that is were they are the weakest and lack depth. Since they have got back to full strength they have been alot more consistant, that's what scares me. Early on in the year you never knew how they would play but now it seems like they are hitting their stride, hopefully Davis is really 100% and ready to go come 6 O Clock. I never look over any final 4 team. I'm looking forward to a great game.
