Petrino carried on an affair, lied, manipulated, was deceitful, etc. Then broke the universities hiring policies to hire his mistress while giving her a cash payment.

In NO way is this like anything Cal has EVER been accused of doing.

He was told to hire Cal by Mike Pratt. He wouldn't have otherwise.

You have a man who hired his mistress, in clear violation of University policy and maybe even state law, and paid her off to nominally ensure her silence and cooperation in hiding the affair. He lied to his AD and engaged in an active coverup of his actions to avoid losing his job.

To ignore all that and champion him because you have a vehement dislike of the current coaching staff and athletic administration comes off as disingenuous at best and ignorance at worst. The man is universally loathed by the majority of folks who have come into contact with him not because he wins, not because he's "wired" differently like a Saban, but because he's a deplorable human who seemingly cares nothing for those around him.

I'd rather lose every game from here on out than having someone representing UK. And if Calipari or Joker Phillips ever got caught in a similar situation? I'd call for his head too.

please, ethics schmethics. Lou Holtz got job after job despite always committing NCAA violations. Rich Rodriguez got a great job at Arizona despite widespread violations at both Michigan and West Virginia. And you can count on someone (likely of a higher status than UK) will hire Bobby Petrino. Why? Because they are winners.

It doesn't matter. But it was Pratts idea to hire Cal. Otherwise he would not have been considered. Once Mitch had a meeting with Cal he could see that he was the right fit.

Back to the topic. I sure as hell hope that the majority of diehard UK fans would want no freakin part of a guy like Bobby Petrino. If he did have success here he would leave us high and dry. He's a miserable human being who's only out for himself. Hopefully at this point he's destroyed himself in coaching.

I would hire that guy tomorrow, of I were the AD of UK. I have BCS and conference title dreams and our program is stuck in Operation Quicksand.

He is an offensive genius.
He built Louisville and Arkansas into powers
He did nothing out of the ethical realm that a former US President or allegedly UKs current FB coach has done
This would irk UofL forever
Towles would thrive under Petrino
He is an a-hole, but a winning a-hole

I can live with the above facts and build the UK football brand into the 8th most profitable NCAA (according to Forbes) program as he did Arky.

Petrino will do a mea culpa and get hired by Clemson, Florida or the U in a year or so with no ill-effects as a bit of the stink wears off....why not us, why not now?

Is there really? There's really more to it hand winning football games? Id love to hear exactly what more there is because Joker hasn't been getting killed on mess boards for being anything like Petrino or any other douche. Joker is a great guy, LOVES UK, represents the school with dignity. Respects the game....etc. But for some reason people have been wanting his job for a while now. So please enlighten me on what else here is, because I'm telling you now that in college football (especially the SEC) its about one thing and one thing only....WINNING...

Now I'm not sayin its right. Morally I wish I could agree with you but unfortunately is not. There's simply not more to it. You win...your in. You lose...your out, and the leashes are getting shorter and shorter. Coaches rarely receive enough time to even build a winner. Its a win and win now mentality now.
