So ... Cards/Gators

  • Who ya got?

I got Cards in a mortal lock. Pitino 6-0 vs. Donovan and 7-seeds 0-5 in the Elite 8 since 1985.

  • I want Gators.

    Because...I want some SEC love!

I still don't understand the big east love, and how they get crazy 8 - 10 teams in tourney year after year.

Whew ... Gators for the 4th time in like 6 weeks? Be tough.

I wouldn't want to play Lamar 4 times in one season much less play Florida four times in like six weeks. Louisville is the better match up for UK IMO.

I agree UL is a better match up.

    BUt, sometimes I wonder.

Is UK line up Florida's Kryptonite. Just something they can't beat.

I feel that way, and I feel confident about playing against Florida.

  • I'm not going to actively root for either. I hate rematches and would have rather have played Michigan State. That said, don't discount the impact of the Final Four setup on a team that is heavily reliant upon outside shooting. Florida, despite the numerous previous games, may be the more desirable opponent given the circumstances. Just look how badly we shot the damned ball last year in Houston.

    Mattox

  • Can I root for both teams to get explosive diarrhea?

  • Game #1 vs. Florida .... UK by 20.
Game #2 vs. Florida .... UK by 15.
Game #3 vs. Florida .... UK by 3.
    Game #4 vs. Florida .... ????

Not a pretty trend if you ask me ...

  • I think UF is a tougher opponent for UK, beating any team 4 times in a year is difficult, I hate the thought of having to do it again. Then again UL would be off the hook hyped to get another shot at the Cats, especially with a NCG appearance riging on the outcome. Honestly...I have no idea which would be the easier path for UK. So when in doubt I'll pull against Louisville...that never feels wrong.

  • Gators. If Florida is hitting their threes they win. UF must rebound

    Big Tymer

  • Consensus, very informal, in media room at Georgia Dome today is that UK better served to face UofL. Hard to beat any good team four times. Just ask 1986 UK team which had exact scenario against LSU and missed Final Four on fourth meeting.

    Darrell Bird

  • I'd rather UF win considering there is no guarantee we even get to the final 4. I believe we do win tomorrow and like Mattox said, don't discount the dome factor with UF. We are much better than both teams so give me Florida.

    Ioannis

  • I believe I am going to fall under that thinking as well. 4 times in one season is a tough go for anyone. Especially if we catch FL hitting their 3's.

  • Even without the 4x stuff (which I completely agree with) Florida is a measurably tougher matchup for the Cats. The shoot it better, and from more spots on the floor. Louisville is not as balanced. The Cards play harder IMO, but that doesn't compensate for the talent differential.

If we were already locked in for the final 4, I guess I would rather play UL....but there is no guarantee we win tomorrow. Could you imagine if UL gets to the final 4 and we dont? I'll take my chances against UF. UF played quite possibly their best game of the season against UK in the SEC tournament(we didnt play that well) and they STILL couldnt beat us.

    Ioannis

  • I can't help it. As I sit here watching the game I am enjoying watching Florida, an SEC team, take the lead on Louisville logic be damned.

I don't think anyone's taking Baylor for granted. Not for a second.

Just saying Florida has more ways to hurt you than Louisville. The Cats are a nightmare matchup for the Cards.

  • If UL keeps collapsing and leaving UF open from 3 they will get whipped today. UF lighting it up from deep 6-9 already.

I think we are a nightmare match up for both teams to be honest. I do think we would beat UL pretty easily though. I just want to be able to enjoy the week leading up to the final 4 and I wouldn't be able to do that if UL is the opponent lol.

Coming off 2 relatively easy wins against Florida the 1st 2 times, I think we just took them lightly in that 3rd game. I don't think there is any chance we take them lightly again in the final 4.

  • UK is a matchup headache for anyone, but it's lessened versus Florida because they've always got 5 scorers on the court. Louisville doesn't have that.

Florida is having some fried Cardinal right now. Straight up on FIRE from the three.

  • There's no comparison between the raw basketball ability of these two teams. Not even close.

Louisville just has Pitino and a collective big heart.

    Yeah,

    1. Home
    2. Away
    3. Tourney, where we weren't playing well

I agree it's not a good trend, but I don't feel too bad.

Miller wasn't miller is now. Teague seems more confident and assertive.

I feel like UK will be more comfortable, and us being less reliant on 3, we would be pretty good chance of winning.

However, I don't think UF is a better match up. I don't think we can look at that trend and be worried too much.

Either way, we have to beat good teams. It's final four. I remember quote from Cider Rapid Carrier about Davis....

"Davis doesn't need to know them, they need to know davis."

My point i think is. UK will not be afraid to play anyone, they need to be afraid to play UK.
