So focused on the QB Race what about these things?

  • Starting RB? I really think Mobley has taken that spot over. Nothing but glowing reports on all the RB's but his name is always mentioned.

What is going on at TE? I hear we are moving the pile. The TE's have to block well for that to happen? Plus are they apart of the passing game this year?

Not a ton of talk about Bud Dupree besides him saying he wants 2 sacks a game. And Minter did not mention him as having a spot locked up.

The big thing I really want to know is are there any changes to the offense? Saw a little no huddle in spring game, but just know that I really like an up pace tempo to the offense.

  • Mobley does not have the RB slot wrapped up. Nobody does. Its gonna be by committee just like it should be.

The TE's better be ready to be part of the passing game. We need it. I'd imagine Robinson, Shields and Kendrick will all play.

Might have to do with Dupree only starting what 2 games in his career. He's basically had two good games in his entire career. He's just a true soph and I'd imagine the coaches want him to be hungry not sitting back and thinking he's got a spot wrapped up but he'll definitely be the starter and Minter will move him all the field to get after the passer and get tackles for loss.

I think we could see a little uptempo. Especially if Max is on and getting through his reads quickly.

  • Honestly I think Mobley could have a huge year if he and the OLine can stay healthy. That said, I don't think he will get the start. This is a big game, a rivalry game, and UL will no doubt be fired up so I think the staff will want to start the game off with a veteran that won't be big-eyed by his first college game.

The TE position has had a bunch of bumps and bruises and guys banged up so we haven't heard much about them. Shields has had a decent camp and he's the passing threat but he has to show some consistency. Looks like it will be a committee unless Shields figures it out.

Bud will be fine but I fear all the hype may be detrimental to his progress. As good as he is he can still get a lot better, by not saying he has a spot locked up that may be a Minter motivational tactic.

Not sure what kind of change you're wanting or expecting? The basic offensive philosophy isn't going to change. They may tweak it a bit if/when Whitlow is at QB with some designed QB runs or sprint outs with run/pass options. As for a no-huddle they may speed things up a little but I don't expect it to be a true hurry-up where players are hustling to get back to the LOS as soon as the play is over.

  • I just hope Shields is able to stretch the field a little bit.

  • The focus should be on the Quarterback(s) because without two very good ones playing this year the rest really won't mean a heck of whole lot. I'm confident UK will play at least (2) Quarterbacks this year.

  • RB, as mentioned by others, is going to be by committee. The staff has said that every time they've talked about the position. They have guys with different skill sets and will use them as such.

TE has been hit with the injury bug. Aumiller (foot/ankle), Robinson (back, again), Kendrick (not sure of his issue) have all been in and out of practice. They need Shields to give them a threat. Doesn't have to be Jacob Tamme but needs to catch 20-25 balls, IMHO.

Dupree is fine. When coaches are talking off the cuff they often forget guys. They've got 50 something players they're in charge of on each side of the ball. Can't remember them all in a 20 second answer.
