So what are everyone's feelings moving forward?

  • What would you consider a success for the team without Nerlens?

  • Making the tourney and/or seeing this team "grow up". I think if they can mature then they have a shot at getting in the tourney. If everything stays status quo, then I am afraid we will be relegated to the NIT, if we even accept the bid. I just don't see things turning around for kids like Poythress and Goodwin who don't seem to have a desire to fight for things on the court (Poythress and Goodwin) or play together as a team (Goodwin).

To be competetive in the remaining games of the season. Its hard to predict what the reults will be w/o Nerlens b/c he was our ace in the hole when it came to defense. This teams defense is very suspect w/o him and only time will tell if they will pull together and play hard for all 40 minutes of each game remaining. If they do that then maybe the future will be good if not then ?????????.

Good questionaire post TKE_!! +1 for all.
I would say to be a success, this team would Bond now..and honor Nerlens Noel by playing as hard as Noel did before his injury. This alone would be a success, regardless of wins and losses. But if they would do this...play team ball instead of me ball..a SEC Title win or final apperance along with a Sweet 16 run in March Madness would be a super success.
Seeing as how this team has done so far. Goodwin needs to make better on court decisions and quit relying on his skill alone..play smarter.
Poythress would dominate if he played with Noels fire and hustle. Harrow would have to quit being a china doll and find some toughness.Wiltjer too.
Polson would have to play more. Kid hustles..plays smart..plays team ball. Let him play PG..Mays SG, Pothress Wiltjer , Cauley Stein. This 5 could compete. Only if Wiltjer,Poytress, and Stein play tough. Wiltjer could provide some 3 point help. Then run some fastball with Harrow,Goodwin, Mays, Poythress at PF and WCS at C.
If I were Cal..I would ask the kids to Honor Noel by playing with his strength and hustle!

  • Yeah, just make the tournament and play hard. This team is/was a defensive team with Nerlens. They have never been a great offensive team with him. I don't expect offense to pick up. I'd like to see them continue holding opponents in the 60's defensively and play hard. I'm not going to ask for an offensive miracle. That comes next year.
