Solid as a Rock???

  • What's going on with all this injuries?
Does it fall at Rocks feet alone?
Cant be simply because we are young because even the upper classmen stayed hurt last yr and this yr.

  • well, the QB injuries are due to the fact that our O-line isn't as good as some want to think. In general though, I don't think it's training, so much as it's the fact that our players are asked to play too many snaps, and are seldom rshirted, so we are true fresh/Sophmores, going up against predominately rs jr's and sr's.

The OL has pretty much been the bright spot the entire year? Yeah our QBs got hurt but its not as if they were running all over the field for their lives. Just some bad breaks.

I agree they've been a bright spot, relative to the rest of the team, but they still let the D get tto the QB too often. That leads to injuries.

Watch the sack where Towles got hurt and tell me how bright the line is. But yes, on a long list of terrible our OL is the least.

I wasn't trying to say they are all world beaters or anything like that...Like you said...They are still on the list.

Just imagine how much worse it would be if all our lineman were going down? fingergun

  • That play was on Towles not the line. Even Towles acknowledges this fact. You can not stand there and pat the ball for 10 seconds, Make your read and get rid of it. The line has been very good especially in pass blocking. The Smith injury was due to a busted play again not on the line. Really poor analysis to put either on the line.

  • I don't think we've had that many injuries, it's just that the players who get injured are almost all critical parts of the team.

I agree that the OL is the least of our problems just think who will be the backup QB if Towles cant play next week.surrendersurrender

  • I think you could go across the country and check out there injury report and find that UKs arent any worse than alot of other teams. It stands out at UK because it's been 2 RBs(Williams/Clemons) and 2 QBs(Smith/Towles) and when it comes from those 2 positions, it seems worse. Typically, alot of injuries occur on the OL and DL and besides Cobble, UKs stayed relatively healthy in those spots.

This is 100% correct. The injury was on him not the OL.

  • They said earlier in the season the off season program and fall camp focused on injury prevention...which is exactly what you do if you want to make sure your entire team gets hurt....happens every time it seems like.

Twice they were being sacked so that does have something to do with the oline.

  • I don't care how much you can bench or how many crunches you can do if you get your ankle rolled up on, especially like 90 deg., you are going to be sitting for a spell.

That's football...If anyone thinks our line is the weak spot on this team they need to get their eyes checked.

In a lot of cases when the QB is sacked it is the QBs fault for holding onto the ball too long and not making a decision of what to do with it whether its a pass or QB running it or him throwing it away. The OL can only hold off the defense just so long no matter how good the OL might be besides the OL is the least of this teams problem.
