Some Recruiting Updates

  • He was allegedly on Tyren Jones' highlight reel, but I only saw Boynton play a couple of snaps. #75 and #64 appeared to be the starting tackles on that film.

Where did you find film of Boynton at? I haven't been able to find any.

I can't find it either. Link?

  • From a guy who goes to all Walton games, Boynton is very underrated....he should be a much higher rated prospect.

Thanks Heat. Glad to hear that from someone who has seen him play in person. Does he mainly play RT at Walton?

Thats very good to hear. Always love hearing stuff like that about our recruits and when it comes to guys in Georgia and Florida we always seem to here he should be ranked higher than what he is. Lots of big time guys down there. The souther teams are stacked and yet there is still enough prospects to go around.

I know that he wears #73 for Walton. Here is Jones highlight reel. I only watched the first half, but it doesn't appear that Jake was on the field for a lot of these plays. From the plays he was on he will need a few years, but definitely has a great frame and seems athletic. He camped here and the coaches got to see him first hand so I am on board. Will be very interested in his senior season as I believe #75 graduated so he will see a lot more PT. Heatheatheat keep us updated if you don't mind.

And my goodness Tyren Jones is lightning. It is amazing watching some of these kids play. Hopefully all these Walton players (Blaylocks & Boynton) can convince future Walton players to consider UK, like DJ Smith next year.

  • I can't wait until Boynton matures and adds alittle mass... I really wish we could add kids like his teamate Tyren... BAMA is loaded at RB, I guess a championship is his goal because from what i've saw last years D. Hart (that's at BAMA) is alot like him but maybe quicker... Fowler and Lacy are both studs too... Jones is good and could break into the rotation soon but I just don't see him playing until he's a 2nd or 3rd year player like Lacy... He'll probably redshirt, it's crazy that kids like Jones often end up redshirting and not seeing the field until they are Redshirt Soph or Jr's... Jones could start day 1 at UK...

I guess he isn't on there much because he was at DE until this spring. :D

  • So Boyton wasn't a starter on his high school team last season?

So I guess that makes him even a better get right? I mean if he didn't even start last season that makes his offers from UK, USF, UCF and Cuse even more impressive. Sounds like to me the UK coaching staff got a commit from a kid that's really gonna takeoff when the season starts. I hope other schools don't sway him away before NSD.

this really sounds like the case with both Day AND Boynton that they got in on them early. I agree with everyone else that their about to blow up and their offer sheets are going to get even more impressive, especially with Day. Summers really likes Boynton's potential and therefore I like his potential as well. Summers track record with the OL he recruits speaks for itself. I trust him. And I know it has been mentioned before, but Nord has really stepped to the forefront and been a monster in recruiting so far.

I think Jeff has stated before that he likes them at least 6'4" and up.

I believe he has also been said to have told Joker that if you want your offensive linemen to play like NFL linemen then they need to look like them. What size (height) are NFL tackles?

  • Guys I just hope we can land a good pass rusher to two to go along with Dupree and Paschal. The kid from TN last ear Azubike (SP?) or the kid from myrtle beach are the types i'm talking about. What about Stephenson HS in GA? Every year it's like they have 20+ D-1 FB players, are we in on any down there? It would also be nice to find and land a Braxton Kelly type ILB. Kelly is about perfect for our defense, the James Kid that has Arizona St as his leader would be nice, he's long and quick as a Cat...

Everybody likes tall OT with long arms if they have good footwork and can play. Just tall not so much.
