Something that is really bothering me

  • Also, agree. Why would the University keep this staff in place next year if this season yields only 3 or 4 wins.

What other SEC University, besides Vandy, would retain this staff for another year and take a chance on losing several million dollars in revenue?

  • The most telling state of the program is the empty seats in the stadium. Our SEC opener against a ranked Florida team was downright embarrassing. Unless the Jacksonville State game is a night, you could see a completely empty upper bowl.

Forget LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, the football team can't even compete with Keeneland right now.

I think it is possible that a name brand coach could land here some day but OTOH you don't necessarily have to have Urbin Myer or Nick Saban to win in the SEC. Florida appears to be doing well with Mushy, and MSU seems to have struck gold with Mullen. Those are just two examples of teams doing well with men who were never head coaches before.

Again: THE HEAD COACH MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE. It has been proven by SC, it has been proven by MSU, it has been proven by Vandy for goodness sakes-look how they are competing and recruiting, it has been proven by Arkansas, Prictino is a good coach,
Joker is making a good difference, too, he has hired some coaches that can recruit but has Tee ever played wide receiver before?
And you might make some gains on the recruiting trail but if your competition lands better recruits at the same time-you lose,.

Until we get a big name coach, that knows how to run an offense and Joker apparently does not along with Randy we lose in the long run. Yes Joker had courage to get a new DC and it ALREADY IS PROVING THE RIGHT MOVE TO GO WITH AGGRESSION INSTEAD OF SBs soft prevent D. However you cant leave it HALF DONE.
THE OFFENSE NEEDS NEW BLOOD AND SANDERS CANT CALL A CREATIVE GAME.

  • It is going to be very difficult hiring a good offensive coordinator if Joker is retained next year....And will surely be on the hot seat.

The numbers are roughly similar through five games, suggesting what I've said pretty consistently over the years: players > Xs & Os

That being said, I'd rather be aggressive if everything else is equal, so I give Minter credit for that. I much prefer this style of play.

AMEN, @ much prefer Minter's style of play. Hell of a lot better, imo, than Brown's.

I think the defense's numbers would be much better if they were getting any help from the offense. The defense played good enough against LSU to win that game in my opinion. By the second half, they were just wore down. Against Florida they had three and out on the first two drives. The offense has to start putting together drives. I believe the defense is very much improved. My one complaint is that the db's never look for the ball and we all know who coaches them. The one game I thought the defense seemed to be pushed around was against UofL, but there are days that you just dont play well. Solve the problem with the offfense and I see this defense working quite well.
