Something to think about.... MKG's age

  • According to NBA rule, you must be 19 years of age, to be eligible for the draft.

I'm pretty sure he will still be 18 at the time of the 2012 NBA Draft, so what am I missing here?

  • the rule states that he has to be 19 by the end of this calendar year. his birthday is in september(?) i believe.

    guindage

  • yeah, as long as you turn 19 this year, you are good to go.

However, something else to think about.

WOW HE IS YOUNG!!!! He is still 18. Keep in mind Andrew Wiggins is 17 already. So actually difference between Gilchrist and Wiggins is only 1 year. Pretty sure Mitch McGary will be 20 next year. So, he is actually OLDER than Gilchrist.

When you look at Gilchrist and his age, you have to say OH WOW OH WOW.

Doesn't say "college," but one year removed from your high school's graduating class.

  • If there was a snow balls chance he couldn't turn pro you would have heard about it no less than ten thousand times by now.

    JohnBlue_

  • THE RULE IS CLEAR, YOU MUST BE 19 YRS OF AGE OR YOU MUST PLAY ONE YR OF COLL BALL.
OK ITS THE OR ONE YR OF COLL BALL. HE COULD HAVE AN IQ OF 180 AND BE A FRESHMEN IN COLL AT 16 AND HAVE PLAYED ONE YR OF COLL BALL AND YES HE CAN GO PRO.

BUT HE STILL NEEDS A JUMP SHOT TO MAKE THE NBA. ok say he is drafted no #2 if he does not get that jump shot he will not last past 5 yrs.

THAT'S NOT THE RULE. IT'S AGE OR A YEAR REMOVED FROM GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL

    (i) The player (A) is or will be at least 19 years of age during the calendar year in which the Draft is held, and (B) with respect to a player who is not an international player (defined below), at least one (1) NBA Season has elapsed since the player’s graduation from high school (or, if the player did not graduate from high school, since the graduation of the class with which the player would have graduated had he graduated from high school); and

I don't care where your daughter works. The rule says you have to be 19 and it has to have been one year since your HS class graduated.

Don't think that's the case, if that was the case any kid that's 18 and born before December 31st could go straight from high school. . .

lol. . . That version of the rule doesn't even make sense. . . Mitch McGary could have gone pro last year. . .

Yes, I know. . . But if it was the "either or" version you would only have to either be "either" 19 in the same NBA draft year or have been a year removed from college. . . No sense there. . . I wasn't laughing at MossCat, just his response to DVILLEPRO
