Very interesting kid. Just interviewed him and his coach. He has never played OL in a game before. He had come up as a DE. On the week that they decided to try him at LT this spring, Greg Nord happened to see him and was blown away. His coach calls him an "athletic 6-8, 290" right now. He's going to be 330+ with ease.
Day's stepdad grew up in Lexington and is a big UK fan. Definitely helped.
Also... This is his 18th birthday. He wanted to commit on his birthday.

There's a video on youtube of Justin playing DE for South Aiken, but I don't recommend it. Not only is it not his college position, but it's not a flattering video of his footwork.
However, a Google search for "Justin Day South Aiken" will turn up a SC OL/DL camp (from an competing football recruiting website) with Justin performing from a 2pt stance and demonstrating pretty good footwork and extension. Like most HS linemen, he will need to work on his hip bend and his anchor, but he's a lean athletic kid that could really develop into a competent LT with dedication in the weightroom.
He might be something of a project, most likely due to his lack of time at the position, but he's certainly a guy I would classify as "toolsy."

Just curious, but what makes one feel this way? UK is in desperate need of tackles that can contribute ASAP. Their other tackle (Boyton) is also a project. Last year's class included 1, possibly 2 tackles in Swindle and Toth. The expectation is that it will take both of those guys a while before they may be ready. Why wouldn't you focus on landing a guy or two that can play right away? Outside of Darrien Miller, who are the other tackles you see playing next year?
Why so serious?

Sounding like SC O-Lineman Justin Day may have committed
