Just curious, but what makes one feel this way? UK is in desperate need of tackles that can contribute ASAP. Their other tackle (Boyton) is also a project. Last year's class included 1, possibly 2 tackles in Swindle and Toth. The expectation is that it will take both of those guys a while before they may be ready. Why wouldn't you focus on landing a guy or two that can play right away? Outside of Darrien Miller, who are the other tackles you see playing next year?

Kevin Mitchell, Eatmon-Nared, TJ Jones and Swindle. Mitchell I believe is slated to start this year, so both starting tackles would return. Jones backs up Miller at LT then Eatmon-Nared and Swindle battle it out for the backup RT spot. Not sure if a true freshman would be able to beat any of those guys out unless he is a top 50 recruit or something and that just isn't going to happen for UK. Might as well get guys with high upside IMO and the staff has done an excellent job of that.

A top 50 recruit, do you mean in the top 50 at their position??? Other than Tim Couch top QB in the country and Micah #9 recruit in the country we haven't landed a top 50 player that I can think off. D Miller was a top 20 OT and IMO he was the best OT on the team during the 11 season. It would be great if this kid and Boynton could show up early in Jan. This kids frame is so long his strength is what's holding his quickness back. I've witnessed plenty of kids similar to Day improve a ton in that aspect once they start to lift with people who know how to train for explosive strength. This kid would benefit alot from a Westside Barbell Power-lifting/sports specific type routine, where explosive strength training is done once a week for upper body and lower body known as "Speed Day", speed workouts take place 72 hours after the "Max effort" workout.
As far saying he looks slow at DE in his HL video, how many 6'8 280# DE's have you really saw look quick? I would be willing to bet if Hunter Bivin were to be playing against same comp as this kid he wouldn't look any better at DE... Long De's usually make good OT, OT's (which this kid is) usually don't make good DE's. This prospect isn't a DE, especially a 1 gap 7 technique De like his HS coach was using him in. If his HS coach were to put him in a 4/5 technique he would look alot better on his video... I trust Summers and Joker if they think this Day is legit, then I do. I think his feet look fine in the videos i've saw. Give alittle credit to the teams he was facing when on defense, South Carolina ball is just alittle better than KY ball... It's not like it's SD and we took a player some call a reach, Joker and Summers have to like him alot or they wouldn't have offered this early. We all know Joey has recently done well at camps and he's a solid 3 star but they don't like him as a OT... Maybe now they will recruit him as a OG, I do think he would be a fine OG, he's strong and has the size right now, heck allow him to start out at OT and see what happens... I would like to see us land 4 O-lineman anyways. Sorry for bad spelling by screen is broke again...

All jokes aside I just hope these next 8 or 9 prospects Joker gets are all solid 3 stars or better and I hate using the star system to describe the type of player i'm talking about... If Joker could find away to land Riles, Drennon, Timmons, Thomas, A TE, ILB, "X" type WR or two and another DT I would be pumped...

I like the potential of some of the kids we have landed but I really hope the next 8 or 9 are all Bell, Hyde types. I have no doubt those two will be studs. It would really suck if we couldn't land some big time playmakers/LB. At this point those two positions are needing the most help... Come on Joker please get it done...

Agreed, I have a feeling the best is yet to come. Most of the players on their board left are guys with pretty good offers. As I was saying before, I think Thomas and Timmons will be the next two commitments, and with even a 6-6 type season, I think Phillips will finish recruiting strong.

How does anyone know if they are a project or freshmen ALL-SEC? I do not get it. Highligt tapes of an OL are usually hard to find and poor quality. Plus, they have not had collegiate coaching. I just do not get all of these assumptions.
