    Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops wanted a staff that 'had a little chip on their shoulder' in an effort to tackle the challenges ahead.

  • Agree with all of yous guys!! Stoops has assembled a young, firey staff that are great recruiters and have what it takes to turn UK around. Already landed one big time 4 star DE..been almost 3 weeks on campus. Just from a positive buzz perspective..Stoops has already helped this football team.
    The one thing you must have to begin building a competitive SEC football program? The want to have one..the will to commit to the job..I think its safe to say Mitch B and everyone associated with this football team has the want to..the will..to get this done.

  • The big thing that stands out to me is that he is hiring so many coaches to his staff.

    Bear Bryant said it best he hires a coach for just about every position. WHY. The head man has a ton of other things to worry about you need great teachers to teach them up. To make them better.

    This is huge at UK. We have to teach 3 star kids to be better than they have been. To get the most out of them.

    Joker tried to do way to much in my OP. Stoops has learned alot from his older Brothers.

  • If this young staff can upgrade the talent level in recruiting, which I suspect they will, then the results will follow as Stoops is a proven DC and Brown is a hot commodity as an OC. I know this is a MOTO statement but the problem w/UK the last several years has been the drop in overall talent which led to a significant drop in results on the field. Papa made modest improvements and there are several players from his tenure that made NFL rosters. Joker's supposed strong suit, recruiting, never materialized and it's no surprise that the program sank in performance over the last three years. Having young, energetic coaches should make it easier to at least get into the schools and living rooms of more talented players which will ultimately lead to better/ more consistent recruiting classes year in and out.

  • I think Mark Stoops has assembled one heck of a staff here at UK. In 3 weeks..already have 2 solid commits..1 a 6'6 250lb 4 star DE with offers from Texas,FSU,Miami, ect. If Stoops can bring in 6 or so 4 star kids in 2013..fill up with athletic and fast 3 stars from Fla..like Sean Paul,Brisly Estime, and Marquez Valdes...Uk will be a lot more talented on the field next year.
    Just a overall great staff..young firey ace recruiters and proven offensive and defensive minds with proven systems kids want to play in. THis is the best possible staff UK could have wished for coming off a 2-10 season and the downward spiral of becoming the SEC EAST Doormat once again after 5 years of winning. Proud to call these guys our coaches..they are already doing great and will do even greater in the years to come!!

    All seems to be going well, but hasn't history shown that we, as UK football fans, should wait for results on the field prior to publicly announcing an upward mobility?

    I'm on a honeymoon with an unknown commodity. That may have worked in the past, but in this day and age - we test drive before we buy.

    Great observation mine big blue brethren. We must have a Staff of great young teachers. My concern with Joker was he seemed to fire the best "teachers" on his staff for what he deemed "recruiters". He needed to keep some of the teachers he let go......but who cares. We are better off in the long run! Friday had to happen so we could get to Sunday....(Easter reference).
