  • Believe I saw a tweet from Jeff that he will be on vacation for a bit, so it may be a week or so before you'll see an update from Jeff.

For the football die-hards, we should start having our thirst for news quenched very soon. SEC media days this week, and fall camp opening up in just over two weeks. The SEC is announcing TV and start times for the first 3 weeks of the season tomorrow at 9 central. It's just around the corner.

  • LOL..I want my fix too...Minter...but JD and Chris have to have some rest themselves..not a whole lot of action on Sundays...lots of kids are from homes that attend church and use Sunday as family day...and that alone slows up news of recruiting.

  • No! No rest!

A 2014 DT found time to decommit from UL today...young man has his priorities straight.

Only a matter of time before UK offers, sooner rather than later. Drew likes UK, but I'm not sure if it is his dream to play in Lexington. That can be the difference in a recruitment as high profile as his.

  • FL TE Kyle Chung committed to Virginia Tech.
FL RB Jamari Smith committed to South Carolina.

    UK had offered both.

Top 3 for GA LB Shaun McGee are UGA, Alabama and UNC, but it is likely a two horse between the first two. UK had offered. (Scout)

UK is close to offering TX S Alfred Pullom, but he likely stays in TX. (Scout)

FL OL Austin Droogsma has Mississippi State, Clemson and FSU in front. UK offered. (247)

IN LB Tony Kimbrough committed to UGA. UK had offered.

OH RB Keith Watkins reportedly cut UK. His coach denies it. I wouldn't count on him though. I think Khalid's commitment affected his recruitment. UK had offered. (Scout)

  • We still looking good with the brothers from Florida. One very highly rated and the other one lower. Alexander I think.

    tWhit

  • The higher ranked Alexander was at UGA for Dawg Night. He has an offer from the Bulldogs. His brother does not. HOWEVER, do not use that as a factor in their recruitments. They are more open to being separated than most twins. The two are afraid that schools are using the lesser ranked Alexander to get to his brother. Similar to what a lot of schools were doing with Robert Ndemikinchsoeofhdnene (sp?).

  • FL DT Kyle Shortridge committed to Wake Forest last week. He re-opened his recruitment today according to Scout. UK had offered.

LA WR Rickey Jefferson committed to LSU, which is no surprise, Jordan Jefferson is his brother...UK had offered.

  • GA WR Tyree Harris is down to Mississippi State and Wake Forest. Sounds like he is done waiting on a UK offer. My guess would be Wake.

  • What are you hearing the team looks or has done over the summer?
What's your take on the o line signees and the ones commited

  • Good questions. The team has worked together in player organized settings and in the weight room. There won't be character issues like there have been in the past. There are a bunch of great kids in this class. Some are already doing serious work in the weight room. I'm sure you have read the Mobley report. I'm really impressed with the amount of time these guys have spent breaking down film. It bodes well for UK's future.

The OL signees coming are an unheralded group outside of Watson and maybe Swindle. I know that Summers liked them enough in person to offer them scholarships. Summers doesn't care what their offer lists looked like. He saw and liked what he had to work with. Don't let the stars determine these kids' potential. Me personally? I have not seen them. OL film is the hardest position to come by. Watson is a road grader with a mean streak. He is loyal. That is a HUGE trait. He had other schools calling and he did not waiver. That speaks a lot to the type of character that he has.

Basically? Give these guys a chance and we will all be pleased.

  • I kind of targeted the freshman with that first comment but you asked about the team in general. My answer is basically along the same lines, but the staff feels very comfortable with certain positions namely TE, DL and RB. They like the potential at CB, but it all comes down to the game. They really need the new OL to come in and work their butts off. Lots of early PT available there. S is another position with a ton of potential. The coaching staff feels comfortable with the starting linebackers, but behind them, who steps up? WR corp has nowhere to go but up IMO. Robinson and Collins will be able to open it up for King on the outside and Max Smith can get it to him. Optimism is high in the UK football locker room, but it is every year. That first game against UL will tell us everything we need to know about the season. It is all about how this team starts.

  • Great Thread! With UGA and UF being close to full, are there other recruits in these states that UK has offered and has a legitimate chance of signing? It seems as if the 25 committment SEC rule is helping the other lower rung SEC schools. Does anyone know if there are many other SEC schools that are in the same predicament as UK with not being able to sign a full class because of the 85 scholarship limit? With UK not being able to sign a full 25 this year, our overall ranking may be lower than others with more signed players even though the average of the stars of the players at other schools may be lower than the average stars of the players in our class. I am not trying to open up a "star" argument with this statement, because there are hits and misses in the star rankings, however, I would think there would be less 4 star flops than 2 star greats. There are just not too many Randall Cobb type 2 stars out there. Plus, it appears we do not have a good track record with 4 stars over the past few years. GO CATS!!!!!!

  • On Drennon I felt a lot better before Texas jumped into that race. They have been all over him since the all star game that Hyde was at.
