You would figure Eliot would coach De's..with his success at that spot. Chuck Smith did a outstanding job coaching Uk's LB's..sent a few no star to 3 star kids to the NFL..seems like a Cat backer has led the SEC in tackles every year the past 4 or 5. Its been what..3 in a row? Not to mention Chuck was a pretty decent recruiter. I guess a clean sweep of former staff is what Stoops wanted..a totally fresh start.

guys, Stoops deserves to bring whoever he wants in. Chuck smith was a fine coach but he was pretty poor on the recruiting trail. There are guys out there who can do both. Set your heights higher, it's not a situation where you have to pick recruiting over coaching or vice/versa.
It's very common for the d-coordinator to coach linebackers as they make most of the calls for the front 7.
