T. Jones

  • I am going to say something that belies the numbers. Despite White's significant numbers and Jones' subpar points, I think Jones played one hell of a game rebounding, passing, blocking, and occasional scoring were a big lift for us.

  • Agree. Gave them exactly what they needed. Very active game for TJ that didn't require a lot of shots from him. I think he's really matured and understands his role now.

  • I also agree. Terrence understands that this is a team game much better than he did last year, and his play is directed at helping his team maximize its production. He has become the man. When you add that maturity to Miller's, that gives this team the experience that so many onlookers have been trying to ignore.

  • T. Jones has finally grown up, hell yea that was a good game yesterday. He proved more yesterday he's ready for the NBA then in any other game this year. He does finally get it. He's not even the same player he was in December. Lead us home big man then go get payed. I've never really been that big of T. Jones fan, however I can now say that after yesterday and his performance that has all changed. GO u.k.

  • Hardest thing for kids to learn, IMO, is that it's not all about points. That's why MKG's so highly-regarded. He came in understanding that.

  • Terrence told me after the game that Calipari told him to forget about offense and focus on defending White and rebounding. Let's face it, TJ was the only player on the roster capable of even an attempt to stay with Royce White.

  • Jones has been a beast since about the midway point of the SEC season. Getting back to beasting down low and rebounding at the rate that's expected of him.

Jones had one double-double in the first 31 games. He now has double-doubles in 3 of his last 5 games.

  • Looking at all the draft predictions, his status hasn't changed much. However, I think a team that does draft him in the 12-20 range is going to be very, very happy with him on their team.

At this point, I'd have Terrence Jones higher on my draft board than a Harrison Barnes. At least Jones can defend and rebound. With Barnes, all you are getting is a jump shooter. That's it.

I think 12-17 is Jones' range.

  • Barnes doesn't strike me as nearly athletic enough to play the way he plays. He will be relegated to being a spot shooter in the NBA, IMO, (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). I think he's got to fall down some from the top pick/top five that he was predicted to be a few years ago.

Jones has a drive and rebounding ability that is uncommon. I can't wait to see him get on with a decent team.

  • It's hard to believe but before last season the hype on Barnes called him the "... best college player ever..."

    poliglotcat

  • That wouldn't have been the case had he gone to UK or Iowa or anywhere else besides UNC. I doubt he would have even gotten that level of hype if he had gone to Duke.

harrison barnes doesn't play much defense but the guy can flat out score every way possible. He's great at getting to the hole. Great at creating mid-range jump shots. Has become a good 3 point shooter...

  • At this point, TJ's decision to come back was a golden one. What a player he is becoming before our very eyes.

  • I don't know Barnes can also post up smaller players and get mid range jumpers all day. Thats the way that the best of the best score in the NBA. By post up and using a variety of moves. The think about Barnes though is he's not all that athletic. He doesn't have very good quickness but he does have good size. He's really the prototypical size of an NBA wing. I do question his toughness and heart. Which lends me to question his D which along with his slow feet could make him a liability on D. Still think he goes top 10 easily.

  • Barns is Chuck Person all over again.
