  • At one time UK was involved with Iverson. If he can prove that he can play like that consistently, it wouldn't surprise me to see UK get back in the picture at some point.

Iverson even named UK and UConn his favorites at one point.

  • Most exciting thing about that camp is how many guys are rising up in both the 2013 and 2014 classes. July is going to be crazy for moving and shaking with the elite programs like UK.

  • Who's a big man outside of Randle and Parker that UK should really be looking at for 2013?

  • Chris Mentioned a guy from new jersey named Jermaine Lawrence back during Hampton.

There are a couple names out there that UK may take a look at, but I think it largely depends on how well and how quickly Willie Cauley-Stein develops.

If he's on the fast track, I could see them passing on a true big man in 2013.

I like Iverson a lot. He impressed the heck out of me at the Top 100. I've not been all that impressed with Williams in the EYBL. He's OK, but I haven't seen him produce on an elite level with the other guys at his position. In fairness, his team is never as good as the other guys' teams, so maybe it's more difficult to gauge him.

I worry about Cauley as far as being on a fast track. Its very hard when a guy like Noel is gonna get the vast majority of the minutes to be on a fast track.

I don't know if "fast track" is the best term for it, but I've been telling people for months that Cauley is much better than the average fan is anticipating. He's almost an afterthought in this class, but he's got tremendous upside. Big guys who can run and have great hands are 80% toward being a star. Cal can teach him the rest.

Agreed. Do you think its possible that he and Noel can play a little bit together this year. I mean its tough because Noel is gonna be a mainstay just like Davis was. That guy will barely come out of the game unless he's in foul trouble which I expect he'll be pretty good at avoiding foul trouble.

I think you're going to see a typical Calipari rotation. Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Wiltjer, Noel are going to see around 30 mins a game. Then Mays will play maybe Darius Miller minutes off the bench (20-25) and then Cauley-Stein will see somewhere in between Vargas and Wiltjer minutes.

WCS is further along than people think. More than anything, I think he just needs time to adjust to physicality of the college game. All the tools are there. Just a matter of how quickly he can get them put together.

  • I think so too. I should stop worrying that playing very few minutes will hurt his development. I mean its a slippery slope though. You don't get much time one year then you get over recruited the next possibly. It can be tough on Cals roster if your not a sure fire star. Like I said though I need to quit worrying WCS will be a stud.

Thad Matta said he will be a first round pick in a couple years. Just remember that.

Once he really starts taking off, it's going to happen fast. Everything you could want from a 7-footer is there.

I'd say Thad Matta knows young big men pretty well.

  • WCS has a lot of things that you can't teach: he's a legit 7-0, he runs the floor as well as any 7-footer, he's got great coordination and good footwork.

All he really needs is to get physically stronger and develop his back to the basket game and he's going to be a monster.

There could be times when that occurs, but I wouldn't expect a lot of it. I think they'd go small more often.
