  • Now I am not blaming soley the loss on Terrancer but reallly where the hell was he today? Lamb shooting 89% from FT line and misses 4, much less the BS refs that you knew we were going to deal with. I dont expect us to win every game but I hate losing ones we should have won.

Thats poor and unexcuseable for someone who is considered an AA. He was visalby pouting at the end the game.

  • Terrance never seemed to be IN the game. He was dropping balls....not going for rebounds...

He was visibly NOT engaged in the game. I wondered if he was sick or something and trying to play through it.

  • Miller didnt exactly set the world on fire today either . I mean for as many big games he has played in where was he?

Slow start, but he showed some spark and fire late. Hit a couple of key baskets when IU was threatening to blow UK out IMO.

  • Your right about that Jeff, but he should be a constant. I saw the Old Darius tonight not, the one from the end of the year last year. Also defensively he was atrocious tonight I thought, and for this team to have been off a week and to have that time to prepare there is just not much of an excuse for some of the things we saw tonight, but ill enjoy the process regardless.

He's just never going to be a constant "Give me the ball and get out of my way" guy. He's not wired like that. People WANT him to be that guy, but he's not. I don't think we should continue waiting for it to happen.

  • The kid (TJ) just had a terrible game. It happens. Wow...anyone who has played any sport knows it happens.

True. But I think the body language is what has people confused and disappointed.

Having a bad game and looking like you don't want to be there are two different things.

  • It's one thing to have a bad shooting night but he played with no emotion. He didn't even try. I hope there is a very good reason. I thought he was trying to throw the game on purpose when I was watching it. Teague's play was understandable. Miller played like Miller. They have to be able to make Free Throws!

Bingo. Jones is probably the most enigmatic player at UK since Roderick Rhodes. What's the ole Crash Davis line..... Million dollar arm (in Jones case talent) and ten cent brain or something like that. I'd really be interested in hearing some of the post game commentary and get Cal's take as well as TJ's.

that can be said for Miller too.

  • Miller is what he is, IMO. You don't see these mood swings from him like you do with Jones.

People just have to accept that Miller is a steady "glue guy." He's not a star or a me guy or an Alpha Dog personality.

You nailed it Jeff. It's the lack of emotion from TJ tonight that has me the most upset. There is no excuse for a NPOY candidate to dissapear and seem uninterested in a bug rivalry game.

  • What pisses me off most his performance on the defensive side. Just let guys drive to the hole and watched. I'm not sure who threw their hands up more after plays, Jones or Valentine.

I agree with this statement. The sad thing is though is he's shown that at moments in big games like tonight, UNC, the SEC tourney that he has the ability to do that. If he had MKG drive he'd be the best player in CBB hands down IMO.

  • This is a big reason why It would be beneficial to Cal and the team to get Wiltjer as many minutes as possible leading up conference play. We need him to be ready to step in and make an impact. I thought he did okay tonight but thought he passed on a couple of threes he should have taken. He's a major asset that Cal has undervalued so far IMO. He should use the same philosophy with him as he does Teague, let him learn on the job.

  • You have to give Indiana some credit for our defense today. That's a good team and Wafford is a tough guard. Too quick for Terrance. Still, a couple of times Jones absolutely did not even attempt to rotate. I still wonder why we keep putting Davis on the Zellers of the world? Lol. Jones is much bigger and stronger and Davis needs to be on someone e can rotate off of.

He's got "flash" ability. It's just not gonna be there every night. Fans hold him to a higher standard that he's never going to fulfill.

Nate, there has been times when Miller has a look in his eye when he discovers that he can't be guarded, when he gets that look...its true. He literally cannot be guarded one on one. The problem is that he has no Killer instinct. The talent is without question there. His size, agility, and basketball IQ is as good as any in the country. If he only had that "alpha Male" mentality as Jeff mentioned there is no doubt he would be a lotto pick and a solid pro. Two seasons ago, Jay Williams did a UK game and he said with stars like Wall, Cousins and Patterson on this team that Darius Miller has unlimited potential as a pro if he ever discovers what he is capable of. I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately,
that mindset can't be taught or forced on someone. I would absolutely LOVE to see this kid have John Wall confidence in himself. However, I still believe Miller will make an NBA roster.

  • I think Jones's problem is that he gets his feelings hurt easily and doesn't recover from it well. It seems at times that a ref's no call or Cal getting on him gets him in a funk. He is just a sophmore and it is early in the season. He can bounce back from this. He just needs to learn what will help him and what won't. Battling like there is no tomorrow will help. Worrying about a no call or a butt chewing won't help. I believe he will learn from this game and he will be fine. Go Cats!

That's an interesting observation. I do think he's a little emotional that way. He's all man on the outside, but inside he's still more like a young kid.

  • I don't think that had anything to do with it. I could easily be wrong but anyone who has played sports knows and understands that's what coaches do. There may have very well been something more to his performance than an off night but I doubt it was that. But that's jmho.
