Teague will cost this team a championship

  • I'm sorry but that was a pathetic performance by him. No effort, poor body language, pounding the ball in the floor and all sorts of whoofing at players he was getting toasted by. Yet, Calipari seems to handle him with kid gloves while Miller seems to get both barrels for any mistakes?

Miller, Lamb, Gilchrist, Davis and Jones is the best lineup we have. Offense runs better, we don't lose anything on defense (and maybe even get some versatility. Teague is a lazy defender off the ball) and Miller has come up clutch time and time again this season.

  • Bet he turns on Sunday when big time TV comes to town!

teague and miller had equally bad games...the difference teague is an 18 year old kid and not the leader of this team miller is a 22 year old young man who is the leader of this team

Teague reverted back to beginning of the season. if he doesn't come back next year...he will be the hasheem thabeet...drafted then exiled to the D league awhile.

  • Teague and Miller were both bad today. Miller would pass up oportunities, but he didn't show as much indifference in his play. There were too many steals against Teague, and the he wasn't hustling to loose balls.

The offense runs better with Miller and Lamb in the backcourt. This "he's an 18 year old kid" stuff is an excuse. It's March and we're Kentucky, the number 1 team in the country playing for a national championship. Pulling Miller out for b.s. reasons and treating Teague with "kid gloves" is crap when he's doing the stuff he's doing on the floor. It's one thing to miss a bad shot or make a mistake it's another to not give effort, run your mouth and just do stupid, lazy stuff when you're pissy because the offense isn't built around you and you just want to pound the ball into the damn floor as the shot clock runs down. His older brother was the same damn way at Wake.

  • Nobody took care of the ball today. Teague had an off game.

Saying he will cost us #8 is plain stupid.

Guard play wins in March. See Brandon Knight and Kemba Walker last year.

  • So they guy has a bad game and he will cost this team #8? Some of you guys need to relax.

Teague didn't just play a "bad game". He played like an immature, AAU baby who wasn't getting his. Teague is this team's weak link and a good coach and team will exploit it to the fullest.

    ^ this.

The whole team looked like they were playing in oatmeal the first half. Jones should be commended for being the one who flipped the switch in the second half.

Lamb and Wiltjer stunk as well if you want to be quite honest.

  • I felt like they played like a team who's coach said he hates these tournaments because they do nothing for you seed (basically worthless). I am not saying that I agree or disagree with Cal on the value of the tournament. I AM saying that it would be silly to think those comments don't have the potential to effect the effort of the team.

Dear God. Certain folks are madening... Seriously. Do us a favor and stop posting. Teague's job is to "run our team". We don't rely on him to win games. he played poorly along with everybody else in the first half today. How many to's did davis, the player of the year have in the first half today?

Half court offense was FAR better with Lamb and Miller.

  • jesus christ im a huge huge uk fan and get pissed over every mistake but some fans need to chill with demolishing 18 19 yr old kids over one bad gm against an extremely physical and desperate tm that has some talent for one bad gm that by the way we won.lol chillax and enjoy the ride teague will be fine give hickey some props.

  • Teague had 5 assists and 4 turnovers. Davis had 4 turnovers, three in the first half and no assists. Is davis going to "cost" us #8? Of course not.

    A. We won the game.
    B. Better for teague to not play quite as well today than tomorrow.
    C. Damn right this team will come out ready to roll tomorrow.
    D. To say it was "all teague" is foolish, wrong, and shows your inability to look at things rationally.

    Thanks.

Guard play wins in March. See Brandon Knight and Kemba Walker last year.

take the last shot against princeton and Ohio state, and brandon knight played terrible last year in tourney. Exception of WVU game, but he couldn't guard their PG so he struggled there too.

Anyways, Teague had 4 TO, but that's the same amount as Davis and Jones.

Teague did play horribly, but so did Miller, who i think played by far the worst. Teague did have 5 Assists, and his Assist/TO was actually above 1.

Anyways, Teague has a lot of room to grow, there is no doubt. However, I would like my vet to set up when they are supposed to, especially past SEC player of tourney.

  • when he plays better tomorrow theres gonna be some remorse. teague is immature and so is every male at 18 19 when being called out in front of there peers. we had a close gm that we won by 9. and you would think we suck. we r 31-1 u dont do that with a bad pg.

    quagmire

  • LAMB IS NOT A NATURAL POINT GUARD. let cal do his friggin job. lamb does ok in small spurts but hes a spot up shooter i think id rather have him catching than distributing just me

Davis TO's weren't the product of laziness and poor effort. There are two kinds of mistakes in basketball: Mistakes from aggression and mistakes from laziness. Teagues were all the latter.

You want a PG that runs his team? Kendall Marshall. Why do you think the talking heads and basketball people are in love with Carolina in March? They have everything UK has but more experienced and a better, pass first point guard.

This. If the coach says he doesn't care, why should you? Go thru the emotions. Were I a fan who took vacation & paid good money to see this tourney, I'd be POed at CC to no end had they lost. Total fan disrespect IMO.

  • The truth is that Teague is a very young, average to solid college guard. At this point in the season he is what he is. Cal needs to play him when he is playing hard and helping the team and sit him when he is off, lazy, or selfish, just like anyone else. There is not some sleeping giant to wake up. He is a big strong athlete but his basketball skills and knowledge need to be developed. Consistent effort would carry him a long way. He also needs to leave Miller in the game longer. Two of the times he pulled him the turnovers were on Jones as much or more.

I agree. If Cal doesn't like these tournaments, he needs to keep it to himself. I definitely think it affects the players frame of mind.
