Tee Martin leaving Cats for USC

    Kentucky is down a member of the football coaching staff tonight. Assistant coach Tee Martin confirmed reports that he is leaving Lexington for L.A.

  • That's just it guys. We were glad to have him on our squad, but he was only able to pull one player out of Alabama this year, Jalen Whitlow, which I am sure is feeling quite jaded at this time.

    But, the twitter from him posted earlier sounded good. I'm not stating I don't think he is jaded at this moment but that he seems a great kid with a great attitude despite that.

  • I'm glad he didn't go to another SEC school but that it's to coach under Lane Kiffin just irks me cause I have such disdain for Lame. Seriously I wish Tee luck and am thankful for what he did here.

    I would agree with that bc Whitlow committed to us without ever taking a visit and based solely on Tee. But his tweets about him being down with UK is looking really good. I think he adds an extra dimension to the offense that we've been missing

    agree wholeheartedly, knew it was going to be coming soon but why to Lane Kiffin and USC?

  • Money and stability. Tee did some good things for UK but Joker has contacts and has done well at filling out his staff. Changes happen every year across the country. If you are doing it right then you are losing coaches every year because other programs pay to get them. When nobody wants our assistants is when you have prolems. Joker has a nice catalog to pull from I think we will be fine.

  • we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later, Tee is a dynamite recruiter and USC is a step up whether people want to acknowledge that or not, he's probably doubled his salary in becoming a Trojan!

    It's good that he has left the SEC and not gone back to that god awful orange, lets hope Joker can make an impact hire, someone with FL ties would be especially nice!

    I think that's the best way to look at it. At least he's not going to be in Knoxville... for now.

  • Great move for Tee as he climbs the coaching ladder. I'm not sure working for Kiffin is a good thing, but getting exposure at SC will serve him well. It's a HUGE loss in terms of recruiting for UK, but, as mentioned, Tee has yet to show he can coach. Joker MUST find someone that can, number 1, recruit the south like Tee did. But, number 2, Joker has to find someone that is much better coaching up the WR unit.

    It's really easy to coach 4 & 5 star kids. You pretty much just baby sit them. Keep em on the right path.

    Tee put his career on the fast track to a Championship. USC is gonna be gold with a Sr. QB. School is easy to recruit to. SoCal or KY, talent pool, golf year round.

  • I think Tee sees the writing on the wall at UK and took a good opportunity before the ship sinks. I really like Joker and hope he gets things turned around but it doesn't look good. I hope I'm wrong because I would love for Joker to be at UK for a long time.

  • A sinking ship?? Seeing the writing on the wall?? I have to disagree with the above poster. Tee just took a great opportunity. I don't see how anyone can truly be angry with his decision. Am I disappointed at the fact that he's gone? Yes. Do I think we'll find someone who can replace his recruiting ability? I sure as hell hope so.

    I don't really care what kind of position coach Tee was at UK. Recruiting, Recruiting, Recruiting...That's all that matters. Joker needs to find the best replacement for him, ASAP! I don't care if the guys doesn't even know what a football looks like, as long as he can bring talent to UK.

  • I don't think it has much to do with seeing the writing on the wall.
    I thi k it has all to do with advancing his career.
    WR coach at USC > WR coach at uk
    He has a great chance at getting a ring this year which would put him in a different class of coaches that have rings both as players and coaches.
    Good luck to him and maybe we will see him on our staff again in the future.
