Teven Eatmon-Nared

  • Anyone got any info on a possible injury to Eatmon?

I saw a tweet from Malcolm McDuffen asking for prayers last night, but have heard absolutely nothing else. Just posting this to see if anyone has any info.

Not cool, if true. That's the one position UK can not afford any major injuries.

  • Could easily be something unrelated to football or injury as well, but wanted to gauge whether anyone knew anything or not.

  • Offensive tackle and cornerback are pretty decimated.

  • I hope everything is ok for this guy we need a big season out of him. Many were upset he didn't play over Miller last year so we could Rshirt Miller but due to lack of development he didn't play, so I was looking for him to bounce back...

I really do hope all is well, if Simpson can't get healthy and if this kid isn't 100% we are going to be down to freshman, we need this kid to have a great off-season and get ready for a big year.

What do you mean by "due do lack of development?" That sounds like a loaded statement to me. Perhaps I am misjudging it, but they gave Eaton a really long look in camp. He just wasnt ready yet. Got to remember that he didn't play any O-Line in high school. If he's healthy, I expect him to make a good push this year. He's right on schedule for typical SEC linemen.

  • 2 years ago Eatmon-Nared was a TE at a small school in Bucyrus, Ohio. Now people expect him to be a starting left tackle in the SEC? It's just not logical

  • I think it was a death in the family or something similar, and not anything football related. Thoughts going out for his family.

As far as football goes, I tend to think he could be a very good player for us. He was a redshirt freshman last year and like the above poster said, only in his second year playing any offensive line position. Not to mention that he had a new position coach and gained a substantial amount of weight in his first year on campus. This spring he'll have had two years to learn his position assignments and technique as well as a good opportunity to make gains in strength.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him at LT, G opposite Warford, or RT come this spring.

    Bingo!

Another factor that may have slowed his spot in the rotation is weight gain. It may have hurt his quickness and flexibility, first step, sliding side-to-side, etc. I think we'll see Eatmon-Nared slimmed down to around 315-ish at the start of camp.

I look for him to claim a starting spot this season. If the season started today my starting OL would look something like this.

    LT - Miller - 6'6 300 So
    LG - Mitchell - 6'6 300 Jr
    OC- Smith - 6'4 305 Sr
    RG - Warford - 6'3 330 Sr
    RT - Eatmon-Nared 6'7 315 So

    Backups would be.

    LT - Woods - 6'5 300
    LG - West - 6'5 300
    OC - Simpson - 6'4 300
    RG - Max Godby - 6'4 280 or Tyler Davenport 6'5 320
    RT - Watson - 6'4 305 TrFr

We will be very thin on the OL this year and some of the freshman & walkons will have to add depth. But if we can stay mostly healthy we should be ok.

  • Shaq Love could still be a year away but don't forget about him. Also, several of those guys can play multiple spots across the line so we should be fine.
