  • Sorry JD but there wasn't ANYTHING ugly or bad about that win. Well I take that back. I had to work and didnt make it to the game. Last game before that I missed before this Saturdays?? 2007 LSU game. Now thats UGLY.

  • 4 – Tennessee had been held to 10 or fewer points on three occasions prior to Saturday, versus LSU, Alabama and Arkansas, the top three teams in the BCS standings. Not bad company.

And those were games without Bray at QB. He wasn't very good yesterday, but still better than Simms or Worley....

I'm shocked they didn't go to a backup. He was clearly in pain and couldn't grip the ball properly.

I fractured my thumb once. It never prevented me from doing my job, but it hurt for probably a good three months and I can't imagine what throwing a football would have been like.

Hey I was there for the South Carolina game. And I know Jeff I was just giving you grief.

Yea. Bray wasn't sharp at all. Outside of the ball to Neal, couldn't even get the ball down the field.

It was clear he was in some pain. Once they switched to the Wildcat for that first play, I thought they would stick with it. Probably should have.

  • Saturday was the fewest points scored in a Kentucky win since the infamous 3-0 game over Indiana in 1996, and the fewest points in an SEC win since 1986, 10-3 over Florida.

You can have all the Air Raid and Spread offenses you want. But the first thing we have to do to become a real football team is to build a really good defense. In three of the last four SEC games, we held opponents to less than 20 points, and one TD in each game. And not surprisingly we won two of them.

  • Great write-up, and I hate to quibble, but I thought the delay of game on that last punt was on purpose to run the clock down.

Best post I have read in days and I agree 100%. If UK can build a defense that can hold SEC opponents to 20 points or less we can make an impact in this conference. We aren't there yet but with the young DL we have a guys like Dupree and a few we're bringing in for this class we are on the right track IMO.

  • To be fair we won only two of the last four SEC games and those wins were against Ole Miss and UT who have the worst teams in the SEC by far. Our defense was playing well but you have to factor whose offense we were playing against. Let's not get too carried away. We haven't exactly built the iron curtain defense quite yet. I can't get excited about the quality of play Saturday, the win yes but neither team was competent on offense. I don't like to watch many 10-7 games.

10-7 is fine with me as long as we're the 10.

Ole Miss and UT are bad teams, but they have some SEC-caliber talent (more than us). Being able to hold down any SEC team is a pretty significant improvement. It hasn't been that long we were giving up 30 and 40 to Lousiana Monroe and Idaho State.

To counter that, UK held UGA to 19 points (15 below their average) and 317 yards (over 100 below their average) at UGA. That's a pretty good effort.

  • Good: Not sure how the discussion got this far without mentioning the guy who should share at least part of the game ball with Roark and that is Ryan Tydlacka.

This was not a scoring game, it was a field position game and Ryan consistently flipped the field or put UT in bad spots. Despite the other heroics we would not have won this game without his leg IMO.

Bad (or should I say good?): The officiating. We got the breaks or if your a Vol I guess you would say you got the shaft. Not sure how the zebras awarded the ball back to UK on the Roark fumble when the ball was clearly out and UT had obviously recovered it. On another critical UT possession down, the UT runner going up the sideline, was marked 3 yards short of the sticks saying his foot was out, but the replay showed the runner had not stepped out until he was beyond the sticks. The play was not reviewed. UT losses possession.

I guess what goes around comes around.

Ugly: I'll get nailed for saying it but this was an ugly win, but hey even the best teams win ugly sometimes. Who cares about style points as long as you put the W on the board. clap

After years of not getting the calls I believe we where due. Plus UT fans don't have a leg to stand on. All they need to remember is the Vandy whistle.

I remember/saw that play call(not the play) clearly. I saw the ball come out and a mad scramble for it. I saw the linesman or side judge immediately start pointing to the ground signaling the runner "down" while the scrum for the loose ball was still occuring. On the replay I could clearly see the ball come out but could not see Roark's knees/legs. He may well have been down before the ball came out.

  • You need to add the "Boo Birds" into the bad section. These people obviously did not understand what our situation was. I wonder if they had seen a college football game all year.

Yes, on 3rd and long, it would be nice to throw the ball downfield to try and get the first. But with a WR playing QB, it was just too dangerous. I was perfectly fine with running the wildcat/pistol in those situations. ZERO TURNOVERS, PEOPLE, ZERO!!!!

And, don't forget about Ryan Tydlacka winning the field position game.

I also could not believe the boos. So long as we were ahead, thought it was the percentage play to keep kicking the ball back to them.
