The Ones Leaving

  • 1) Anthony Davis - Clear cut #1 pick in the draft. Gave us a year to remember. Thank you for playing at UK and good luck in your future. You'll be remembered.

    2) MKG - Widely regarded as the #2 pick. Couldn't have helped himself by staying another year. Thank you for all the hustle and you'll be remembered

    3) TJ - Gave us 2 years. Coming back was a smart move. Thank you for doing that. I hammered you this year for your effort but you got it together and played like you are capable of playing. Coming back would not improve your stock much. Good luck

    4) Lamb - Gave us an extra year. Without the 3's we would not have made it. Couldn't improve stock by returning. Thanks for the memories and good luck

    5) Teague - Without you we don't win #8. Just that simple. Thank you. That being said you could have come back, improved, and improved your stock dramatically next year in a weak PG class. Mistake leaving. Money grab. Pure and simple.

  • You forgot to wish Teague good luck. I have a hunch that beneath your bluster you are a class act and forgot to do it. So I"ll do it for you. Best of everything Marquis!

  • I thought it was a very well mannered, thoughtful post. What are you going on about?

I'm pretty sure he's referring to this line about Teague:

Mistake leaving. Money grab. Pure and simple.

I'm sure that's it. And it's true. It was said as kind of a factual statement without emotion. Like a robot looking at the situation. I'm still obviously thrilled he came to UK. He can make the money. It's his choice to do it. I'm not going to begrudge him that. I'm not thrilled about it. He had many legit reasons why he should have come back. But I'm not going to hate on him for it. I wish him the best of luck.

I don't think this is mean spirited. Mean spirited would be "you suck, I hate you".

Where did the 'mean spirited' comment come from?

  • I thought it was insinuated by the comment, "You forgot to wish Teague good luck. I have a hunch that beneath your bluster you are a class act and forgot to do it."

Edit: If nothing was meant by it I suppose carry on. biggrin

LOL. Those aren't reasons. They are your opinions, and this is a weak class for PGs as well. The reality is that there would be two players expecting to dominate the ball next year (Harrow and Teague). Out of the two, Teague is much bigger and physical and is ideally suited to play off the ball (just to be clear, I said out of the two). So, while I have no doubts it would be better for the team if he came back and Cal could certainly make it work, it isn't the ideal situation for Teague or Harrow individually. Also, Teague just lead his team to a N.C., and all his buddies are taking off. I don't hold anything against him and think he is making the right call.

It seems by reading your initial post that it was constructed simply to "take a swipe" at Teague. I could be wrong, but that is how it reads. Given your history as a poster, I think that's what you are doing and that is a classless and uninformed move on your part. Sadly, just par for the course with you.

if teague came back, he would definitely have upped the draft.

Just performing the way he did in tourney all season would have put him in lottery, per chad ford. Chad ford even said after top 8 players, he isn't sure who would be next, and went on to say if Teague came back there is a good chance he would be picked after 8th spot.

I think, however. Teague wants to play in NBA.

I actually think it's less to do about money than more to do about him hating following:
    1. Most like hates classes
    2. Not fund of the first PG to not become 1 and done under Cal.

Something other than money. If it was about Money makes a lot more sense to come back.
