Personally, i prefer a separate board for subscribers. I can afford to join and may do so at some point, but honestly I've spent much more time on the Cats Illustrated boards lately even though i think this site is better. I don't care that i can't have access for info i don't purchase. It just drives me nuts to be reading a thread that i think is free that suddenly goes private.

Honest question for non-VIP posters. Honest.
Is it better to be able to most of a thread, or none of the thread at all? On this site, you don't have to pay to read or post.
Other sites, you have to pay to read and post. Can't read any of it free. Can't post free. Is that really better than occasionally maybe possibly having some VIP posts sprinkled in - posts that are made VIP by the users themselves - whether staff or non-staff?
It allows folks to get an idea of the content, the conversations, etc. Can test drive for a bit and see for yourself. At other sites, it's paywall, paywall, paywall, paywall. Wanna see what's here? Start your 7-day free trial.
It's asking folks to take a much bigger leap than we are IMO. Even if there are some VIP posts sprinkled in, at least you have an idea about the topic and where the conversation is going. Then, if you run into a VIP post you have a much better idea as a consumer in your decision-making process.

I am a paying member of this site, but I find it highly irritating to go to other teams' boards and try to sort through what is VIP and what isn't. It makes for a very negative forum experience. At least with the old Rivals Catspause site it was pretty obvious what you could and could not read. Also, I think that the pay boards tend to be a bit more well moderated, and with good reason, as compared to the free forums.

ridiculous. Listen I understand this is a business and Catspause exists to make money so I understand the need for the VIP articles in order to entice more people to subscribe. I even had a subscription for quite a while. Having said that, this new trend of every reponse to every thread from an admin being blocked is kind of over the top in my opinion. You can't open any threads anymore without half the content of discussion being off limits. I still think this is the best UK site out there but there is just too many other options to get information from. I think in the end this stance is a little self-serving and will actually start to turn people away.
I just wanted to vent a little. Can I afford the subscription? Absolutely but it's more of a principle thing now.

I would have the posts separate..I have stayed away more recently also..Too frustrating the way its set up..I think your intentions are good but the threads need to be separated..VIP vs non VIP..saves time...

Every response in every thread isn't VIP and it doesn't have to be at all.
However, if the guys are bringing their knowledge and/or expertise on a subject or passing along info that isn't spread out across the Internet, that is exactly why folks become VIP members.

You've sort of stated one of our main positive points, here. You CAN go to a lot of other teams boards on this network and read and post. Not every board, but most. On other networks, you can't post or read other boards at all without being a member of those sites.
That's one reason we make things VIP here, too, is because users from other 247Sports sites can read and post on this board. There may be some things we'd like to tell UK fans that we don't necessarily want fans of other schools to see.

I believe that I could read and post on other sites as well, just on the free part of their sites. I don't remember if it was that for Rivals or not. I have actually quit the Cat's Pause twice prior to this and it just keeps following me around the net, lol.
