Thin Thirty plus Fifty years

  • In 1962 Charlie Bradshaw become the head football coach at UK and things have not been the same since. From 1946-1961under Paul"Bear" Bryant and then Blanton Collier UK football had a combined 101-59-8 record, the best stretch ever. No UK coach has left with a winning record since. Bradshaw's legacy will always be the "Thin Thirty". If you have not read the book by Shannon Ragland I highly recommend it.

The young men that survived the 1962 season are now in their early seventies. The university would do well to invite them back to Lexington for a reunion and an apology. Maybe it is not too late to right this wrong.

Read the book a few years back and actually played on a league basketball team with Shannon.

That book is interesting, eery, heartbreaking and triumphant all in one. Hard to believe those kind of things happened here.

Definitely a good read for any UK historian.
