Those who have promoted the "disconnect" theory...

  • ... between the coaching staff and the players have seen that put into serious doubt today. Cats have not played all that well (offensively) but have played hard on both sides of the ball. Does not look like a team that has laid down on its coaches.

"Why now?" is a good question, though. Where was this last week in Nashville?

  • Maybe they have decided to play for each other. I dont know. I know I was given a HUGE piece of info and by all accounts everything has either been true or came true.

  • Since bowl eligibility is out of the question, I wonder how UK will play next week. Hopefully with it being Senior Day and the streak, they will come out motivated and inspired.

They need to play for the seniors and play to end The Streak. This year's UT team might be the worst in a long, long time. If they lose to Vandy, which is very likely, they will come to Lexington looking for their first SEC win of the season. Beat the Vols and Big Blue could end the second HC career this season. Plenty to play for, IMO.

  • Georgia was celebrating winning the East before this game started. Then they lose Cromwell and their #2 back was not even at the game. That made it a bit easier for the UK defense that played very well for most of the game.

Problem is you aren't going to beat very many teams with 23 yards of rushing. The offense was totally shut down the second half. Maybe there was still some inspiration there but I think the energy had left the team in the 3rd quarter.

Some really good individual efforts including the #21 and #22 duo. Some nice plays by Dupree and Davis. Kudos to Smith for trying to play the rest of the game with what appeared to be a mild concussion - dude was defiantly not with it after that hit.

Interesting game for a while but beating the spread and spinning it into a moral victory is not enough to give a struggling coach another year IMO.

  • This was a bit of redemption for Joker and Co today for me...barring a total collapse next week I think he's solidified that he should be given one more year.

At times today I even found myself being optimistic about what we have returning in Max, Lowery, Dupree, Ukwu, Cobble/Rumph/Coleman, Clemons, Kendrick and others.

Next year is the make or break year for thi staff.

I speak (off the record) just about every week with two prominent members of the team and both of them have told me there's nothing at all to rumors of a rift between staff and players. One of them told me it's exactly the opposite. This is just the stuff that gets stirred up when losses mount.

I've never seen a losing team where there isn't some talk of a 'disconnect' between coaches and players. It comes with the territory, especially in football when you have 100 personalities in the locker room and people are frustrated. It's sports. It happens.

    Exactly.
